Glad you get to get out of the snow. I am headed to McKean to deliver a Log Home Kit, or at least some of it. I get all the fun trips. After being layed up for two days in Marshfield so sick I couldn't drive. The joys of this job. Anyway better now, off and trucking again. Merry Christmas all!!!

Been out with my trainer since late Wednesday and it's going better than expected. trainer is cool but she's having a hard time believing that I'm not an experienced driver lol. Just rocked two backings and one started off blind side. Feeling better now.

been out to the west coast and back to the freeze. Spent time in texas then had a load to California... followed the routing down the 10 to the 101. oops LA traffic was fun! pushed hard and had 3400 miles. had to reset in ontario California.worked out great. I have an uncle that lives in the Fontana area. Met up for dinner both nights and took a nice ride in a car with him driving like an LA driver... lol My load picked up 2 stops before I shut dow for the reset. I didn't have to deliver till yesterday at 10PM. So I streetched it out over 4 days and got there early yesterday. Got a preplan that loaded today and I am sitting at Gary currently with a bunk room for the night... Heading to Minnesota... YAY!!! (sarcasm) I heard about the weather... lol
Had an intersting trip out. Caught the load out of the house with 1600 miles to Texas. Guess what its a flat... I should have checked the night before when I went to sleep but got up and found it. 4 hours behind... so I ended up getting it going and rolling with no trouble... till my keys were missing... not the truck key thank God, but the stinking lock on the trailer key... This is the second lock that I've freaking bought! now another one... Had to get it cut off. 3 hours more on that... if I would've paid him cash it would have been 20 minutes! ugh...
Got to delivery about an hour late I thought. The consignee was down the road from Texas Motor Speedway. Cool sight since I'm into Nascar... the cons. was closed. They close for 8 hours then run 24 hours till the next Saturday... lol nice to know... Ended up delivering at 3AM. This meant I was late for picking up my preplan which was my load to california. got there at 0830 and it was 1900 when I finally left. what a waste of a day... Rolled as far as I could stay alert and safe and had great ride after that... getting unloaded was a very similar experience. lol
Oh and the keys I lost were found by the Loves where I fueled! Thank you to the uinknown person that turned them in! saved me a hundred or more $$$$. They mailed them to my house where they currently are.
So I guess according to my uncle the Santa Anna winds were picking up a few hours after I left. Says they cause some grief there once in a while! Well keep safe!!!! -
Hindsy, I had a Roehl driver in my yard on Friday, pulling a curtain. Truck number was IIRC, 9280? Newer Blue Freightliner, ragged out red curtainside. That wouldn't have been you or PAOLDSCHOOL would it?

Well, got out of the west and hit Indiana to deliver that load. 2200 miles then caught a load that ran me thru Gary. Bunk heater went out on my 2200 miler froze the night in Indiana cuz the thing would not stay running no matter what I tried. Night before was different story. it was 10 degrees out and all I had to do was push in the tractor brake and keep the trailer on and she ran all night... Thank GOD!!! The next night was a cold one too, but she wouldn't run for me. I was Bobtail so didn't have the trailer option. Tried chocking the wheels, but no luck. Miserable night of sleep up ever 30 minutes to start the truck and worm up. It was that cold!
Bad thing about the week was that the 2200 was spread out over 4 days, 6 really, but I took a 34 at the beginning since I was in the LA area and met up with family. then after delivering I got the preplan for the next load that picked up 24 hrs later. Pulled it to Gary made calls, but they said call my FM in the morning. Then the message that I sent stating I needed in the shop was never received by my FM and I got told to not write it up without permission. So I never knew that. said sorry and went on to ask if they were going to take it and have it relayed. which they should have done the night before, but let my FM deal with it. Shop got my truck in almost 24 hours from writing it up. They got it fixed and I ran to Tomah then Nekoosa to get some paper... at Nekoosa my window stops working. I send a QC message about this stating that I feel this is an imprtant item to fix. get no response at all. Got word the load I was under, delivery was pushed back another day and will deliver Tuesday. They are having me relay that to Mogadore. Since I wrote the QC message and also gave a eta for my load I assumed they knew I needed to stop at Gary and get the window looked at and fixed. have a nice discussion (not really) with a weekend person. Then talk to a regular FM that was covering for some hours. He and I had a decent conversation. I felt better after this talk. Jim, if you read this Thank you and if there's room on your board I know 1 driver that would love to join it and have had the same issues as me... right wise?
So I write up the truck for the window and go to bed. I was told to find out what time I'd be out of the shop. So, in I go and I ask a gentlemen what time he thinks. He gives me a time of 5 or 6 PM... I in return call the day time dispatch and tell them. (they act like they didn't need to know, but I told em and they made a note of it.) No, it never dawned on me that that M##### ###### just gave me the next shift's start time... I go in and see about it at 1730. there re 3 guys workin... 3 and there are more than 20 trucks written up. I was #20. so after we all finished laughing I had them remove me from the list and diceided to hit the road. I'm mostly irritated cuz if the guy gave me a straight answer I would have hit the road during the daylight hours. Safer in this weather!
Got the load relayed and left it in the only hole in the yard after the they guy there left. we rotated to get thru. Then I did the same for another driver as I was leaving. Now here I am sitting at the spiceland indiana flying J till morning and then rolling to danville for my delivery.
Said my prayers and I will hopefully be at home on Friday like I requested. That stresses me out sweating over it. keep your fingers crossed.
Stay safe and Merry Christmas! -
I take it your truck has an APU since you couldn't get it to idle.
