Last time i spoke with my trucking bro's on here i got lucky, back in October i was set to run with CRST. I was very nervous as 1, i don't like teaming and 2 have heard 90% negative about them even from my closest friend that lives near my home said DO NOT RUN WITH CRST, they have you grabbing your ankles from day 1! he ran with them and said he never made money and they lie, take things out of your check your unaware of and so on. I was desperate and they said they would take me so i had a week to pack and get ready for school, well within that week i got lucky and was hired on locally driving dump trucks for 17 bucks an hour........unfortunatally this past monday i found out they were a bad company. 1st off friday the 3rd of December while taking of the sides of the truck to have RCP block & brick unload what i had in the truck a brick the size of my computer keyboard struck my right foot, this happened an hour into my shift and tried to shake it off but an hour later i could barely walk and decided to tell my boss and the people in HR. At lunch i took off my shoe and all my toes were blue and swollen so bad that every step i took hurt, well i showed my boss and he said "your pretty tough aint ya" i had to control myself as he nor HR seemed to give a crap and he said "look we had an understanding when i hired you we need you as scheduled" i said are you kidding me? you've seen my foot and i can barely walk what do you want me to do? so Tuesday i was sent to urgent care by them and the doctors said my small toe was broke and the others were severely swollen and i could not work for at least 2 weeks and they put me on pain meds. Funny even after the doctors prognosis he called me this week and said "the company needs a driver so we hired a new one, we gotta let you go buddy sorry" make a long story short ive got a workers comp case going against them now, which leads me to this CR England told me once i heal i can come drive for them. I asked my buddy about them and he said they are even worse than CRST! he said they bird dog you to lease (which you make crap income and are resposible for everything) or you can stand firm and go solo making 25cpm, at which you gotta drive till the wheels fall off to make a good living, not to mention the phase 2 60 days with a leasee has me laughing to at 11cpm. Ok let me say this though all i need is a refresher and my recruiter i have spoken to says she will waive my $1400 tuition as they have a promo going right now all need to do is pay the $100 admin fee and fend for myself food wise for 2 weeks. Lucky for me while going into Wal-mart today i saw a CR England truck parked out front, i said cool let me go ask him some questions. 1st everything about the company he confirmed, he said he's been solo for about a year and they keep hounding him to sign on to the lease program. After a lengthy conversation with him he said "if they make me lease i will quit" i said what are they paying you, he said you see that security guard out in front of Wal-mart? i said yeah, he said that guy is making more than me. So i asked why do you stay on? he said for the OTR experience so he can drive locally ASAP..........my question to anyone out there is, should i run with them reguardless? i have a 3 year old son and just 2 days ago found out my wife is prenant! i need to bring home some bread, but it looks like im better off taking my chances at home, i need some feedback. Thanks bro's![]()

You are in cali, give central a call..they seem to be pretty good
-
Have heard about them, might hit there web site to see what they are like. No Egland advice?

True, the free tuition has me enticed. Don't think it's worth it in the long run and the horror stories of making you sit for up to 3 weeks waiting to get your truck IF you go solo.

I'll be going with CRE soon.

If you're in Cali, my advice is don't go for England. However, I understand bad situations.. If you do go for England, stand firm on "NO LEASE".... do NOT let them push you around, and make sure they know exactly what you will NOT stand for.

Almost 13 years ago I started my career at age 21 with CRE. After a two day greyhound ride to Salt Lake City, with a good friend of mine who also signed on, they helped me get my feet "wet". I spent 2 weeks in school with them, 10 weeks as a logbook with a trainer who was cool with me, but bitter with the company. I was his last trainee. Our last day before he let me out in SLC he wished me luck and said,"put your time in, get the experience, and get your ### home local!" I spent 12 weeks away from home and six months with CRE and it is what it is. We all know this career is loaded with sacrifice. It sounds to me as if your mind is made up. The hard part to me would be leaving the family behind now. From everything I read CRE is exactly the way they were 13 yrs ago and the same as they'll be in another 13 yrs. These companies will promise you the moon to get your ### in the seat, but at the end of the day that's all you are to them...an ### in the seat. You can change the stickers on the cab and call it any joeblow trucking and your still a number to them.
My advice to ANY new or slightly used driver would be this...take as much as you can tolerate. Keep humble but remember we all started somewhere. Get as much experience as you can and then get your ### home every night(if that's what you want)! Go find a GOOD O/O who's willing to give you a shot. If You want to matter work for a o/o, because they care whether or not you hurt yourself or your kids sick and has to make a drs appointment. I've been hauling gas for almost 11 yrs and can gross near $200 a day! Anyway sorry for rambling...I wish you all the good fortune I've had in my life!
Be safe out there and keep the greasy side down!
