No, it didn't have to be said. You didn't have to state you hope the other poster has the worst Christmas ever. That's just plain wrong.
It really seems to me that a ##### pot full of poster have attempted to give you sage advise. Yet you automatically turn hateful and speak with contempt to them. Simply 'cause you don't agree with what they say?
You really seem to be an angry young man. Maybe you are mad at yourself because of the situation you are in? Mad that you are having an issue with a truck you are leasing? Dude, it's only a starter issue and you are only out a few hundred bucks.
I don't know you but judging from your posts it sounds like you got into this lease before you were actually financially ready. Now you are pissed off at the world? I dunno but you sure do react to anything said that you don't like/agree with in a rude and disrespectful manner/tone.
Maybe you are just trying to seem tough via the 'net. An "e-thug"....who knows? But there is year upon years of experience on this forum. Maybe some of the posters are highly opinionated.....but the experience is there nonetheless.
Heck, I'm probably just wasting my time typing this as you definitely seem to know everything. But I was bored watching some "chick flick" with the wife.![]()
First major issue with my truck....

yes or no, does anybody here have to say "you'll fail" or "you're not going to make it"? no. the gloves came off weeks ago. don't like what i said? too bad, i dont like someone telling me "you'll fail". sounds like something you'd hear from bad teachers and bad parents -
So basically you want us to sugar coat things for you? Your an adult, act like it. Trucking is very expensive. You have had an issue that is costing you several hundred dollars to rectify. These are issues that you might have been able to take care of yourself.
I say might, as I don't know if Swift is willing to allow its L\O to perform mechanical maintenance on their trucks or prefers that they be serviced by qualified mechanics.
However, given that you didn't have the tools to do even basic diagnostic checks on your own, well, you get what you got.
You may call it, hatin' on you, but I don't hate you. I just think you should listen more and not get so defensive.scottied67 and Raiderfanatic Thank this. -
You need all the help you can get man... this is a tough biz, and all you're doing is PO'g everyone who is trying to help you.
Why don't you try stepping back a bit and think about this...scottied67 and Injun Thank this. -
That would be like my personal vehicles....just because I have a monthly payment on it doesn't mean I have to get the bank's permission to work on it or who to take it to.
Obviously I don't know how the L/O deal works.....sounds like I have no desire to know, either.
BTW, Dick, just because someone tells you that you will fail or that you screwed up doesn't mean you need to give attitude back. Maybe initially, that would be expected. But to continually be a jerk in your posts simply 'cause of that.....well, it makes you look like a know-it-all and someone who will probably fail.
I doubt any one honestly hopes to see you fail at your current situation. If they sincerely do....well, that speaks volumes about them then. If they did, I doubt there would be so many attempting to help you out only to have you spit back on them with your words/actions.
From your posts...IMO...you have a lot of learning and growing up to do. Good luck. -
whats that saying? what goes around.......???
as for the first part of your post, yeah, your dam right i'll work on my truck if its something i know i wont screw up.
When picking up my truck (oh by the way, she turns over like a champ....no hesitation, nothing) i got a copy of the work order/bill from the first time i dropped the truck off there. You know, when i said "it needs a starter" and they never bothered to look at the starter, just replaced the batteries? Yeah....the work order lists everything they did. The first thing it says is, "...tried to start the truck, it wouldnt start"...yeah...BULL SHATner. and IF IT DIDN'T, i know jumping it didn't get it to turn over. I've found that this is the way they do business. thats fine. but $1000 is all the business they'll get from me. Had they done me right to begin with, and not try to scam me, they'd have got more business from me down the road. Now....since its obvious any warranty work that'll need done will have to be done at dealership with a GOOD reputation, anything else, that i know wont be covered under warranty, i'll take to the international shop here in town, that my father use to frequent when he drove semi truck local for 30 yrs. He still knows a couple of the guys in that shop. -
Very Glad to hear that your truck seems to be back in tip top shape.
I certainly hope that it remains that way for a good long time.
We don't intend to hurt your feelings with our comments. But we are not going to sugar coat things for you either. -
and if you're not a parent.....i'm happy for you. -
i tell ya one thing, with the new starter, and whatever "fix" KW did with the new battery, the truck is starting like a champ in this frickin' cold weather in NE iowa.
-
Mr. Jones, I think you just learned first-hand how most drivers are treated by mechanics. In most opinions of shop personnel, anybody whose hands are on a steering wheel for the bulk of the day couldn't possibly have the slightest clue what's going on under the hood. As far as they're concerned, we are nothing more than dipstick pullers and windshield washer fillers. And they get upset when we either do it ourselves or tell them what's wrong.
Yours was actually cheap, quick and easy. Mine was a year-and-a-half long saga of fights with Freightliner and Detroit Diesel over a cracked head. Since it doesn't throw a computer code, there's no way there could be anything wrong with it. After I can't tell you how many times in the shop for "water leaks" and "rough idle" it was finally properly diagnosed by an oil change guy. It was confirmed by a pressure-up test on the cooling system (put the pressure guage on the radiator and run the engine until the thermostat opens, then let it run another five or ten minutes...if it goes above 14 psi, there's something wrong. Mine went to 25, which could only be a head/head gasket problem. Since the coolant was going out the exhaust but not in the oil, it could only be a cracked head.) that the underlying problem was found. After I spent over 5K on it and ran it at Freightliner's insistence for 176K miles doing gawd only knows what other damage. It took another three months and five visits to shops after that to plug all the air, exhaust, oil and water leaks created by the head replacement.
You got off easy.
