Jakewalker, not saying not to drive for them. They got some good equipment and you will get great miles if you want to run. Just saying know what your getting into with the contract. Not saying they did'nt deserve thier pee's for the school. I paid them within two months of termination or at least I thought I did. Maybe they just need to redo the way they collect on the contract so the honest guy don't get screwed. I am sure that a whole lot of guys never pay them back, but I tried to do the right thing. Good luck with your time with them. Be safe

I highly doubt he even talked to anyone at Stevens about the debt. They supposedly sold the debt to a collection agency after not receiving any payment for 45 days? That's ridiculous. -
Well Brother, your right some folks don't have a choice. I did and I will be fine. Just want to make sure that the young guy with kids and a wife needing a job does not sign up for something he does not fullu understand thats all. The more the new drivers understand how these schools that Stevens, Swift, England a nd all the others work they better off they are. Your right you make very little the first year. So it is really important to understand the whole deal.

The problem here california redneck, is not with stevens...it is with the collection agency. They do not represent Stevens. They bought the debt from Stevens, for pennies on the dollar, and then try and collect the debt from you. Had you understood this, you could have told the debt collection agency, to take a flying leep, that you owe them nothing.
Your problems is not with stevens, it is not understanding credit, and how debt collection agencies work. And even when you and the agency agree to a reduced payment, the full amount must still be accounted for, and it WILL show up as a non payment on your credit report, and if it is forgiven, then you will owe the IRS income tax on the forgiven amount.
Truth is important.strat57 Thanks this. -

Is $25.00 a week to pay back the loan is too much??? I spend more than that a week on cigarettes.and how much would you, or you company pay a driver with zero experience? Its not like it was 20-30yrs ago to start out driving a truck.Where one of your buddies teach you and he can get you hired on at his company.Last edited: Dec 12, 2010

Barndog get WIA financing. That is what I did. I owe nothing to nobody.
Stevens probably didn't sell the debt. They got a percentage. Collection agencies are jerks and they threaten you to get what they want. Record them and tell them they are being recorded. They usually talk different.
They hosed you. Got you to believe they were going to take everything you owned. Classic. Having that bozo on tape would have netted you tax free money for his BS lies. I did it. -
Ah, thanks Rug Trucker. I actually don't need financing, and can pay my bills for a while yet 'til I see if this dog hunts.
Nope, don't owe anybody anything either. -

Just an after thought: You are going to work for a contractor, you are not deploying. You are taking a job that requires you to work in Afghanistan you are not being deployed. It is an insult to the people in the armed forces to have you say that you are deploying.
It will probably be just a matter of time before you start telling stories about the "Black OPs" you where actually on during your "deployment". ROFLMAO.......
