Not sure if anyone has listed it but how bout a hobo dinner? 1lb hamberger, baby carrot's, cut up tater's, and minced onion to mix in the hamberger for flavor, put it in heavy foil, fold it up and stick it on top of that hot block or even better, the turbo if you can and let that baby cook. IF you really want some flavor, a little tony's seasoning (don't think you northern folks know about that there cajun stuff /no pun) Or some italian dressing to marinade in while it cooks and makes a good dippin' sauce.

But I'll never share my secret recipe for the best #### rump roast you will ever have which can be done in the crock pot at home or in the truck.

Ahh ok. Well, I guess it's not all on the down side then. Every time I've eatten food up north even some family (by marriage) it was so plain and bland it horrible. I would kill for just a little table salt to choke it down.

    Buckeye 'bedder Thanks this.

Sounds #### good. Might have to give that a try. However I believe the term you are looking for rather than "a sticky sauce" is caramelized sauce. Gotta have the right term in cooking or it could turn out to become something completely different. Then again, I've made some really killer meals from making mistakes and accidents next to being creative. No pun, just thought I would add that.

Yep, here in the Midwest, especially in the agricultural capital of Ohio (aka Wayne County), you will find 2 seasonings used: salt and pepper............. ZZZZZZZZZZ.....That's it. If you like old-fashioned,"farmerboy country cooking" though, some of the best are at the jillion Amish or Mennonite restaurants in my parts. Taste alert: they do not used cayenne pepper. lol

I have a friend that lives in Ohio but haven't had anything other than what I've cooked in the truck and fast food (which I've only been up there 3-4 times sense the 55 speed limit was raised) Normally when I talk about northern food I talk about like PA and further north.

I know a lot of people avoid aluminum or plastic for liquids for health reasons... I may eventually switch my plastic 20 oz water bottle for stainless steel. I never under any circumstances microwave food in plastic containers (use glass). Plastic gallon (with screw top) water jugs can be found in the bottled water isle of the grocery store. Every couple of months I replace the jug. I don't know where to find a stainless steel 1 gallon jug.

Shoe fly pie?! Tried it once and all I can say is... bleck! The few pecan pies I've bought from the Amish have always been "soupy" also. WTH? I make my own, anyways. Just call me Buckeye Crocker?:biggrin_25525:
