Whats the best way to get experince to get started

    I have a class A cdl but i have little tractor trailor experince.I mainly have been driving Tandom and Triaxle dump trucks,boom trucks,flat bed trucks.I really like driving tractor trailer but every company tells me i need 6months or more experince.How do i get it if every company tells me that

    that is the old "catch 22" situation...

    you just have to keep trying to get into a company. you may have to go through company paid training, OR pay for training your self as this will give you 'some road time'.........since you have been driving what is known as Class B trucks, you might very well need a refresher in Class A trucks. even thought YOU DO HAVE that Class A now, you still DO NOT have any recent or current road time in an A vehicle.

    A way we get around this where I live is to find a farmer to haul grain for OTR. The $$$ certainly will not be there,but you will get the needed experience.... PS for RERUN,-I"m not ghosting you on this forum,BUT it is working out that way today LOL- I am back out there on Friday,though:biggrin_2556:

    Try the smaller companies. Their insurance usually gives them a little more leeway as to who they hire. You will definitely still have to go with a trainer though. Good luck!
