I was at the Pilot in ATL off I-285(Bouldercrest Rd) I was parked on the end right by the scales and I was in the driver's seat doing paper work when the Hogan truck beside me decided to pull out. It was an old man not watching his trailer. His trailer pushed my driver's side mirror all the way back and breaking the plastic frame. I yelled at him on the cb and blew my airhorn. He kept on getting it thru the fuel island. I could not see a trailer number on the back of his trailer.
I was parked at a Petro one time in the section where you back in and other trucks can back in behind you where the back of your trailer butt up. I was almost asleep one night when some guy backed in to my trailer hard, almost knocked me out of bed. He came over and apologized, but there was no damage.
I have had several people push one of my side mirrors back some, while they where backing into a spot.
Most driver's wont even acknowledge they hit you. It would mean a lot if a driver would just come over and admit to it even if there is no damage to your truck.

Was sitting in my cab waiting to be unloaded at a Kellogg warehouse (can't remember) reading a book. There were 3 of us Werner drivers in a dock and the trainer and his trainee in the middle were getting ready to leave. I saw the truck get ready to move and then it pulled out really fast and the trailer jumped and in my mirror I saw the trailer door unlatch and slam against my trailer and cab. I ducked down as it went by and I couldn't believe my mirror wasn't knocked off. By the position of the chocks it was clear the trainee had forgot to move them and just ran over them after taking off in second gear.

The other drivers (a husband and wife team) were as shocked as I was and we had to scream at this trainer and trainee "hey you hit me!" They would have drove off. The trainer came over with the trainee and was like "did you remember to latch the door?" to him. This guy was a trainer and didn't know any of this happened?

Been bumped in the rear several times by trailers backing into one of those spots in the middle where trucks are parked back to back.

Can be a very rude awakening!! Doesn't usually do any damage though.

You're a liability to your employer. If I had that many incidents i would be looking # MY parking habits. I couldn't imagine all the lost time and paperwork involved in all of those incidents.

Got rear to reared one night at the Pilot in Beaverdam OH. Doggone van hauler with his tandems way ahead and big overhang. He started the "Oh well" attitude and I blew. Asked him if he realized how lucky he was, pointed out my rear discharge valve (they're well protected) and the skull and crossbones poison placard on my tank. Told him had he snapped that valve off I would have made it out cause I have a respirator but that he and many around us would have died. Yeah, I know better but this guy needed a waking up.

Anyhow, let this guy buy me a coffee and biscuit so's I wouldn't report him to the DOT, EPA and everyone else I could think of for nearly causing a "disaster". Bet he's still super concious around tankers.:biggrin_2559:

One of the worst places is the Pilot at Meridian MS. Lots of US Express, Schneider and others have a loading point nearby. Watched two US drivers back into each other trying for the same parking spot.:biggrin_2559:

Gonna have to disagree and go with "Custard Pie"

Was bumped one rainy night at the Burns Harbor Pilot butt to butt. No damage.

Other time was by a jeep on cruise. He drove into me on 94 in Michigan. Tore up my icc bar and fender. No injuries and no tow trucks involved.

These are all good reasons to not sleep in the big chain truck stops. I know sometimes you have no choice but it can't hurt to ask around for a smaller one that's not so busy. I know I don't sleep well when I'm wait for the bump and crunch in the middle of the night.

How do you figure mgfg? So it's my fault I get hit? I park just like you do. Probably better. I'm picky about being centered.

So if there is one parking spot on the end you aren't gonna take it? I rather not park there but if it's the last one and I'm out of hours, I'm taking it.

I always park in the back row and preferably against a patch of grass for my dogs.

My driving history speaks for itself. You can think what you want.
