1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

If you need to get your foot in the door and if you're an adult, and can act like one on the road, Covenant will put you in a truck with a 4 day refresher for no cost. They are not for thin skinned irresponsible people... they dont suffer fools well. I mean no disrespect, but you might not be happy because their system is tough and they give tough love to the drivers. But, if all you need is back in a truck, because its easier to get a truckin job when you have a truckin job, they will put you to work. If you do well at the refresher they will solo you out so you can run solo. I got solo status out of the refresher 5 weeks ago.

i know i'm new to the profession, and don't have any experience, but from what i can tell there is a huge difference between otr and local. local, you pickup, drive to the stop, which is usually no more than 50-100 miles away, drop, go to another load. or multiple drops, etc etc. otr, on the other hand, you have to drive anywhere from 200-2000 or more miles to drop the load, don't get to go home at night, live in a walk-in closet, keep logs (and yes i'm well aware that some locals have to run logs), deal with weigh stations, different laws in different states, and not to mention you have to run in areas you have never drove in before, and find places you have never been. not saying one is better than the other, just that there is a big difference from best i can tell.
