I have been accepted into the Choice Program at Schneider. I will be heading to I/C orientaion on Monday. Does anyone have any experience with Schneider as an owner op? I was a SNI company driver in the bulk division and then a JC penney dedicated driver.

Sorry, no answer to your question, but maybe you can help me?
I'm new with my CDL, and have been called for interview with a SNI regional tankers, as a company driver...
I applied for regional cuz hopefully a little bit more home time I hope.
Good or Bad idea going to SNI, and going into tankers in general? -
If you live near Chicago which I think you do. You should have really good home time. Schneider has always got me home when I needed to be. There should be plenty of miles for you also. Be prepared for orientation! It is very involved, lots of information. Schneider is very anal when it comes to safety and you will appreciate the training that you will get because you will be hauling and unloading haz mat. Good Luck to you and PM me if you have anymore questions.
glider7 Thanks this. -

I have been running the choice board since late December. All I can say is WOW. This board can be nice to you or really evil to you. I am still learing lots everyday. I see some good paying loads and I see some really bad paying loads. Example: I live in Florida, I see loads comming out of there for .82/per mile. Yes...no joke and that is to the truck. Who can pull that without going broke? I can say that I can make this work but this is not good for somone who cannot manage their own truck. What I mean is you have to be able to dispatch your own loads, manage your time, solve most of your own problems and still get your loads delivered on time. Sounds easy right?

I ran the Chocie Program from 2007 till March 2010. When I started there were about 50 of us on the pilot program and the rates were all over $2.50 a mile. then they added more and more drivers and they rates went down. Right now I believe they have close to 2,500 guys/gals running it. It will take you 6mos to figure out the good lanes and where to go, and where to stay away from. I see you live in FL so it's going to be very tough for you due to SNI not doing much in that area, or the south for that fact.
Here's some tips:
Always go to Chicago, as the rates are the BEST out of here. I was able to run CHI to detroit everyday and make over $2 a mile and be home every night. There are always loads from CHI to the northeast coast too. Most rates are well over $2+ a mile, but rates out of there are bad. Just like loads going to the West pay well, but back across don't.
Best of luck and if you ever have a question or need help, just ask. -
Just wondering why you left the Choice Program? Did you leave Schneider as well?
