if you have an Illinois CDL and get a ticket, when it comes time to renew your CDL you will have to retake the writen test all over for everything-----cdl, air brakes, car, motorcycle

I reckon that's what it takes to get an expressway named after him.
    Welcome to the Ryan Expressway.
    Watch out for pot holes.
    You know, for safety's sake.

If the pot holes don't break y'all,
    the State will.

    Illinois, The Land 0 Lincoln.
I wonder how ol' Honest Abe would feel about that honor?

    Jimbo,

Check back a few hundred years, it all started with a few guys screaming loudly, then a few more, then hundreds, and finally...thousands!!!! Don't Tread On Me, HOOAH!!!!!!! Moreover, if "the other guy" is Hussein Obama of Kenya, or those of his ilk, then yes, I WILL BLAME HIM OR HER OR THEM OR IT, should that be the case. These overgrown egocentric megalomaniacal sphincters are systematically dismantling our great nation with the intent of turning it into a great bastion of European socialism; YES SHOUT NOW AND SCREAM VERY LOUDLY!!!!! The problems mant moan and groan over in the trucking industry are a result of drivers not standing together and screaming together; the If-you-won't-take-that-cheap-crap-freight-than-I-will mentality is a prime reason drivers are NOT sitting in the proverbial driver's seat!!!!! These sorts of "little laws" and other crap like CSA2010 are all contributing factors and many believe as I do that these are all part of their big government democrat thing making We the People pawns in their scheme. Remember the words of a great American, forefather, and framer Ben Franklin; He said, those that that are willing to trade liberty for security deserve neither.

You blame the wrong party for the CSA 2010. This has been going on since the first lawsuit after the change of the hours of service in 2004.

The idiot that runs most of the dot is the Republican Ray Lahood. Another great supporter of the trucking industry from Illinois.

    Msiddall,

I returned to Illinois to take care of aging parents. I have not driven in just over three years after retiring from federal service. The more than three years without driving puts a huge damper on the hiring process, couple that with the screwy Illinois CDL laws and I'm pretty much toast. I should have investigated this issue prior to making the move, but with the ageing parents, it really wasn't on my radar.

There is no way for me to transfer my CDL unless I locate an owner operator willing to take a huge chance. Insurance restrictions are setting the guidelines where Big Brother drops the ball, so that is doubtful.

My only option if I want to drive is buy my own truck, a huge risk even for an experienced driver, or pay for another CDL mill. From what I've read, I don't even think a refresher will cut the mustard.

The CDL system was designed with "good intentions", if they would only let the system "function as designed". As with most things the government becomes involved in, it is now totally FUBAR. But that's a topic for another thread.
