ann, only the idiots will do that............your doin the right thing, i wouldn't wanna be a female for nothing in trucking, but i gotta give you credit as well as most the other females, in my opinion, you all are more professional, and better behind the wheel than most neandriltha males out there, i hate the adolesent crap that is on the cb myself, unfortunately they out number the good ones, i pray that will change one day and go back to the days of brother an sisterhood, hang in there

The vulgarity in the cities causes mine to be turned off unless there is a jam or I am looking for information. My grandmother told me that vulgarity was the ignorant mans vocabulary. You could always say "When you get home tonight I hope your mother runs out from under the porch and bites you on the leg".

I always ran a CB in my 4 wheeler back when I was in the military and drove back to my parents on the weekends I was off. It was a great radar detector (especially in VA where they are illegal), and let you know what lane to get into to get through road construction, etc. Most of my driving was done late at night (trying to eek as much out of my time off as I could), so it was great talking to all the drivers out there, and helped us both keep awake. Had one driver I talked to on I68/I70 in Maryland that drove for Pitt-Ohio that I talked to every weekend. I did turn it off going through places like Cumberland, MD where the base stations seemed to drown out everyone. Wheeling, WV area seemed to be getting bad with all the crap talking, etc. last time I was through there. No sense in it. When I drove for the company I drove with when I got out of the service, the trainer they sent me with didn't have a CB (or a radio of any sort for that matter in his truck), and it was enough to drive ya nuts! Probably for the best though -- he didn't speak English very well anyway. :biggrin_25513:

I don't run without a cb pull the rf gain back sq up and you won't hear most of the bs out there but you'll hear the truck behind you telling you these something wrong with your trailor like I tryed to do yesterday when sparkes were flying out from under a prime truck going across 70 I even pulled next to him honked and waved the mic at him but no radio so he dident no anything was wrong

Might be good for a laugh. But one of the reasons CB is frowned upon.

Yep especially at the truck stops with all the CB rambos.

mine is always on in varying degrees of volume.
being near a truckstop or traffic jam is where you hear the most BS really.
Tonight actually going up Monteagle towards Crashville 3-4 of us were having a pretty decent conversation about CB's, fuel prices, wives/girlfriends, the companies we drive for ETC.
Good conversation CAN be had, but you gotta have a good BS filter to sift through the crap out there

So, does this mean I will have to buy my own CB for whatever truck I get once I start driving?
