I have a lot of the cheap die grinders used them for years, some with flapper wheels, some with polishing pads, 90 and 70 degrees, and straights. I bought a bunch of expensive ones and had problems. I bought a bunch of Campbell Hausfeld units and as long as you lube them I have had no problems. They use a lot of air, but are something that once you use them you wonder how you ever did the job without them.
Using an impact on a truck air system is a slow process. There is not enough volume.

Use a 1/2 hose not the 3/8 one

I have seen a driver use a 3/4'' gun to change a tire on his trailer in delta oh one day. he had it hooked up to his air tank.

A 1'' gun will also work fine if plumbed right with 1/2 hose. I have been doing that for couple of years now.

Buddy of mine owns half a dozen snap-on trucks. You would all be amazed at how much Harbor Freight "stuff" he sells off of his truck.

If I had to make a living using tools, I would go for quality. but to keep a tool in my side pocket & I may use it some day ... I will go for the less expensive tools.

hard to beat their wrenches for the truck, lose one , you have lost nothing. screwdrivers from them haven't impressed me. another trick to do with your airlines. plumb lines off both the "front and rear" systems.attach quick disconnects to both. you can use these to supply air to tools as well as fill your system. use it a lot in the shop. prevents having to crank truck when you need air in the system. (use a male thread/ male coupler screwed into a female thread/male coupler) also a good high pressure blow gun. johnny

What about tapping off the bottom of the primary air tank 3/8" hole on bottom? I noticed it gets constant air. The brake tank only get air when the parking breaks are off. No air to tank when parking snapped on. Not working on a truck with no parking brakes applied :'... It looks like a 3/8 hole to a 1/2" hose? This truck was converted to a strait truck and de-tracktored. And finnaly, the air tanks are not big. They fit inside the frame rails.

I worked on units that had air start systems, and I made a manifold so I could drain the air tanks from the side of the truck. I put in couplers so I could hook to shop air to fill the system.
Normaly I remove the air compressor discharge hose and I have a #10 fitting with a male adapter, and I fill it with that. I use it to check air systems and governors. You connect an air pressure regulator and you do not need to run the truck finding air leaks, or repairing problems. I fill the system when in the shop so I do not have to run the truck as long when in the shop and moving it out.
