Any of you Cummins techs got an answer for this one? We have 2 Peterbilt 367s with the ISX 450. Yesterday my son was driving down the road and the truck all at once fell on it's face, would not pull, or develop much over 20 lbs of manifold pressure. Took the truck to Peterbilt dealer and they said it was on stage 2 derate because of DPF. Truck would not regen on it's own and had to be hooked up to laptop to regen. Now nothing showed up on the in cab display, and when he asked them why,:biggrin_25513: they told him "we don't know, trucks done with regen keep an eye on it and if does it again bring it in". What good is the display if nothings showing up? What's up with that!

Ask the dealer if they updated the ECM calibration for you. I have seen the odd time where the ECM won't communicate with other data displays after an update. It is a simple parameter change to fix it.

in my experience if it hit stage two you would have gotten a warning message stating to performed a parked regen, make sure the check engine light bulb is working-turning the key on will perform a bulb check, did the engine power come back after they "performed" the forced regen???

Yes the lights are working, they all cycle thru when you turn on the key, and yes the truck is running great since they forced it into regen. We have another truck that's a sister to this one and it does the same thing! Same crap, "we don't know why" from the dealer!

I agree with Heavyd. Check for misconfigured settings--it happens. Also, check the aftertreatmeant parameters. Some units (mine being one of them) came from the factory with the aftertreatment "start" switch parameter disabled. I was unable to perform a stationary regen. Dealers don't really care because problems like such equal job security and easy income with a quick fix only those with a computer having the licensed (or bootleg ;-)) software can perform.

Peterbilt have advised me to hold the Regen button down for at least 10 seconds and not the 4 that is recommended.

It sounds like your J1939 datalink isn't communicating with the engine computer.

LOL... Sounds like a typical 'CYA' response on the part of the technician--blame it on the driver. It doesn't matter if you hold the darn button for 10 minutes or 10 hours, if the aftertreatment start switch parameter setting is set to 'disable', the only way you're going to complete a stationary regen is by computer--the start switch ain't gonna...
