Think about it all those other jobs where they work on christmas, most of the supervisors change the schedule so everyone gets a shorter shift so they can have at least some time with their families. Every place I ever worked before I drove truck used to do that. Iv e spent plenty of time on the road during the holidays, but my kids are grown up. I cant imagine trying to explain why I cant be home for the whole week of christmas. Boy I need to lay off the caffiene:biggrin_2552:

I was home for Thanksgiving, and will be for Christmas. I'm usually home for at least two days for both.

When I was in management outside of trucking, I generally worked both those evenings because they were two of the busiest nights of the year for us.

yeah...it's evry man for themselves when it comes to trucking. Used to be one driver would help another one out capable of the situation. Now it's the backstab mentality. Instead of helping a driver back in, it's video tape him and hope he cracks a fender. Instead of getting a driver home, it's drive him further away and the heck with his family. Ive been there done it. Cleaned my truck numerous times, bobtailed to fed ex many times and hopped a plane home. A real man stands up for himself. And those who have no heart? Your just living in a lonely man's world..a world with no money, no family life, and no love. Of course you hope that guy doesnt get home. It's so easy to identify the losers in life, the ones who play there best card first and lose the game of life. They will die lonely and never wish the best for no one. Driver get home, evan if it means renting a car and abandoning your truck. Show your family that you are the boss, and have dignity left. There are drivers out there with common sense..hey get on the CB and ask who is going your way. Someone will be more than happy to get you home. Some drivers just have the inability to be rational and take their losses in life like a dog...so dont live life with your head in the sand. Get home and spend the holidays with your loved ones. Their are heartless drivers who post on this board..they will also be spending christmas on THE TRUCKER'S REPORT as a penalty for having a narrow and closed mind...got Xmas presents to wrapp....drive safe

One thing to remember is no matter how much you can't stand a company never put yourself in position to screw yourself. Never quit under a load & always bring truck back to a company facility. Don't give the company any reason to shaft you on future employment elsewhere.

There is no reason in hell not to get a driver home for Christmas except for a dispatcher or company that could care less about there drivers. Just remember all you heros that run through the holiday because thats what trucking is , while your sitting in your truck by yourself your dispatcher and company owner are home with there family not giving a #### about you. Family comes first and foremost to me and it would be a cold day in hell before i missed christmas eve or morning with my loved ones. Now if you have no wife, kids or family and you dont celebrate Christmas truck on.

Ok, I shouldnt have called 123456 a name. I apologize. Im not going to bother with this anymore. I guess I should be the same way I am when Im on the road. I dont usually talk to anyone and mind my own business. Ill take my leave now, You all argue amongst yourselves. Merry Christmas.
