I never thought I'd say this but I just got off the radio after talking for 3 hours straight over the CB!

I met another base station tonight that was over 10 miles away. We talked first on 19, then moved over to 24, then finally over to 36 USB. I have to admit for talking distances, the single sideband is much clearer and more efficient to use than basic AM. :biggrin_25519:

i'd say about an hour. but like you, any lengthened conversation has moved to SSB if both of us are able.

i am on the raido for about a hour each, on the weekends talking to locals. one night i talked to a guy for 4 hours about hunting spots, fishing, trucks & cars, guns & bows, military and women. I half to aggree about sideband we did not have everybody butt in with the peanut gallery.

when its time for a converstation go sideband.

I think he was asking about distance.

Turbo-T : From truck to truck I have had many conversations over 40 miles

From truck to base, maybe 75 or so.

DX: No tellin, I've communicated to Jamacia, Brasil, Texas to Cali, Texas to Florida, etc.

    Barefoot cobra 29 - 5-10 miles

When we have our nets on Sunday my first is at 8AM ( 20 meters SSB ) and the last at 9PM ( 2 meter SSB )
If things are rocking and rolling I have stayed on the radio HOURS at a time .... The nets run on 10 12 and 6 meters in the day when the bands are open which right now they are not ....

I meant how long have you chatted on the radio non stop, as in time wise. Distance is another story.

75 miles though between truck and base? Was skip rolling? or do you just have one hell of an amp on both ends?

Sorry, I saw what I put in bold and assumed thats what you were talking about.

Time wise, I've talked from Texas to New Jersey with a fella for hours upon hours.
