does anyone know an antennea wizard out there,,i have a cobra 29 w/rx limited mod done by triple t in az (beautiful work by the way,,cant tell it wasnt made this way,,,puts out 100-110 watts and 15-17 dead key depending on whos meter is reading it,,,looks great and with echo installed,,,sound great,,,my problem is that i am not getting out,,,,,1-4 miles depending on conditions,,,,,running one wilson 2000, mounted on mirror mount of 2010 prostar,,,coax is straight to mount not through a multiplexer,,,factory ground wire is in place and swr's are sitting on less than 1,,,needle barely moves from chnl 1 to 20 to 40,,,and i pick up more linears from a thousand miles away (kinda) than i do plain jane cb's close by,,,,,what gives? what ant, do i need to start with and what sort of grounding has been succesful on prostars? or do i just eat the 200 in the radio and start over with a connex?

A antenna dosn't care what radio you use ......
You have 100 watts out and how big a heat sink ? I know any 100 watt class radio own has a major one .... -
are there any good radio shops in northern Indiana/southern Michigan?
-
Yes there is a good shop at i-40 and council rd as you come in to oklahoma city from the west it is in the TA it is the best shop in oklahoma
-
no, I said Indiana or Michigan. not Oklahoma -
Anyone here tried the CB shop in east Tulsa off I-44 exit 238 in the truck wash? Always hear them advertising on the CB when going that way.

If your radio is actually doing 100 watts on-channel (bleedover and other out-of-channel junk doesn't count), and you actually do have an SWR of 1.5 or less on a WIlson 2000, then you should be seeing from 1-10 miles on bad days, and much longer distances when conditions are good. Stock, untuned 29's are capable of 3-10 miles in good conditions on the vehicle and antenna setup you describe. Either your radio is NOT putting out like they've told you it is, or your SWR readings are faulty.
bubba T and squirrellsgnwild Thank this. -
Watt meters don't care they read all power one reason i use bandpass filters.

an antenna cares a great deal about the type of radio i.e. bandwidth and by extension the ground plane,,for instance a stock 29cbra with firesticks will work much better than with say a monkey made (coil) type,,,depending on the type of waveform coming out of yor radio (1/4-1/2wave etc) and add in the ground that the radio "see's" and extensive modifications to the output signal side of the radio and you will very quickly come to a place that i am at,,,very modified cobra, good antennas, some ground issues,,,,low resistance on the cable, great swr's, and plenty of power,,,but will need someone with great knwoledge of signal tracing and wave propagation theory or, similar practical applications to correct the "choke" on my signal.

WHAT
"depending on the type of waveform coming out of yor radio (1/4-1/2wave etc)"
