I have just received my TND 500. I tried to set up the dock program on my computer. I get a bubble in lower right saying that the device malfunctioned and microsoft windows does not recongnise the device. What should I do to eliviate(sp) this problem so I can update in the future?

If you go to your start menu, control panel, uninstall programs - let it load and scroll down and see if you have .net framework installed. Should have at least minimum of version 3.5.

If you do not, then E-mail me and I can provide a link back to Microsoft to get version 4.

    thanks,
    Mark

I just wanted to show some of you just how easy it is to find info on GPS units, and I made it even easier by posting videos. Now I know well all want a fool proof unit, well in a perfect world we would never get old and we would all make 20 dollars a mile, hell while I am in fantasy land I want............
There is no such thing as a perfect GPS unit, if you want to read a paper map, then rock on. But anything I can use to help save fuel and time, I am going to jump on it. With all the road work going on roads change and this just might help route around all that crap.

Thank you for the nice youtube videos!
BTW, your TND software looks a year old, my UI has a button which allows me to change my load weight easily.

It certainly has Canadian maps, but they can be really dated, 10-15 years old in some cases. Low bridge warnings are useless, as is most of the truck specific routing.

In reality it's no different than a regular GPS in Canada, except it has the odd truck stop and scale.
