I can't find it right now but it also says "4 hours per *each* 12 ounces".They are talking about regular domestic beer.(Budwieser, etc)

Sort of depends on the person's size too. A 12 oz beer makes someone my size legally drunk for the .08 level.

    More like a bad week!:biggrin_255:

You will never find it~ FMCSA Part 392.5 has no "4 hours per *each* 12 ounces" domestic, import, or home brewed.

If you have any hint to the effects of alcohol then you should not be driving a CMV period. Say you go out on a bender and the next morning you are hung over a little, you are still under the effects of the alcohol and can not drive a CMV legally. If you want to get down the brass tax, you can not even get into a CMV and crawl into the sleeper to sleep it off with the keys in your posession. This is considered Actual Physical Control since the sleeper is not completely sealed from the cab of the CMV.

The rules are alot stiffer when it comes to a CMV compared to a personal car or pickup "4 wheeler". Any hint of alcohol can put you off duty for 24 hours.

8 hours bottle to throttle is not correct unless that is just one drink or maybe 2. You can ot go out and drink all night and then sit back for 8 hours then get into your truck and take a load. You would still have alcohol in your system.

I don't drink much, but I enjoy Sam Adams at home. My personal policy is nothing within 24 hours.

    Rat Thanks this.

This is the best policy. There are no problems with people having a few if they are going to be off duty long enough for it to fully out of their system. What I can not understand is why some people just have to have alcohol all the time or can not wait till they are going to be off duty for a few days.

I enjoy some bevs myself but only at home and when I am going to be away from the truck for a day or two. There is no way I am going to risk my driving career just to have a few beers the night before I am going to be in the truck.

For most people that would be close to accurate . . . I'm 5'2" and don't weigh much . . . it doesn't take much to put me over the legal limit! I do remember hearing something similar to that at one point too.
