what to do for more power in my radio

If your on a budget. Just get a small 2-pill Amp and see anywhere from 150 to 250 watts out...pending on the make of the two-pill.

For just a bit more you could get a 3-pill (1x2) and see numbers from 300-to-400w's!

Or, a 1x4 and be blowing smoke at 600 to 800w's!

Around here in the Dallas area, no one will even know your on the air running one of those RFX75's...Plus, they get Hot, and being attached to the back of the radio, is not a good thing.

I think those RFX75's and the swing kits are waste of money!!

 

a good amp for the money and does a descent job for what it is....id get a texas star modulator....they are
small dont take big wire to supply juice to them and they just make a barefoot radio come to life

running the RFX Cobra stand alone
Flip the switch on the straight 8 DM and well . . . . . . .
The RFX will hammer any 4-8 pill box to audio utopia
with outstanding authority and clarity.

You can not put 100+ watts out for under $250 with "new" equipment.
Again,Perfect for the fleet truck hands

You have to be very long winded to get them hot. Just like my old connex 4300HP. Get long winded and it will get very warm but not too hot to touch. But then I don't go reciting bible passages either.

Many many people want an all in one,plug and play type of setup that does not require running extra wires and coax and trying to find a place to put an extra "box" without it being in the way of everday activities that we have to contend with in a truck.

I was runnning a cobra stealth into a palomar 450 for a bit. There was no place to put the extra box. I had to fab up a bracket so I could mount it next to the radio under the over head storage on the 379. I had to remove the passenger side visor also. Kind of sucked when the sun was coming from that direction. It would pretty much stomp the red river vally of ND but it was not needed for the most part. The palomar is now sitting in my garage again with the stealth in a cubby in the truck for back up and a connex 4600 turbo is now in place.

I just picked up a Harley Cobra 29 and that and my stealth are getting sent away to get fixed up. The harley edition is going to be stealthed and both are getting either the rfx 75 or the newer larger RFX.

 

I just use a old galaxy 44v with a 2-pill linear. I like that it has variable power on the radio so I can run a peaked radio, or turn the radio down & click on the amp when I need to punch through the noise. It may not be a maul dropping setup, but it is good enough for what I have ever needed it to do.
