Hi everyone. I'm Jennifer or Jen. 32 from Townley AL. Married to Robert who just became a truck driver and we have a 12 yr old son together. So far he has been to the school (3 weeks) training with someone (2 weeks) orintation (a week) and solo driving for about 4 weeks now and we have only seen him 2 times through all this time and its so hard. So any and all support, tips, stories, anything to help all 3 of us adjust better to this new lifestyle would be greatly appreciated.
New at being a truckers wifey...

Welcome aboard. Well, a good cell phone plan is a must. That way you can chat with him often. Also, get him a headset, if he doesn't already have one. It helps when he's rolling down the road, and you want to talk.
I know that its an adjustment, especially for someone who's used to having their hubby around all the time. Eventually you will get into the groove of things, and your time together becomes much more special.
Good luck, and I'm sure that more of the ladies will chime in soon. -
Welcome. Its hard missing someone really bad..I've known that feeling. Good luck to all three of you with his new career.

Hi Jen, I am also a trucker's wife. Started out just like you, 13 wks out on the road before having home time. No kids at home as both are married, so I am totally alone! It's really difficult when you are used to having hubby around. If the pay was better it would be worth it for a while; but pay is low & personal expense eat up the low pay pretty quick. We are just putting in our time so he's more marketable for more regional/local jobs in about a year or so. OTR trucking is great for singles, but not a great way to spend your married life for very long. For those of you who would suggest I become his co-driver, that is not an option.
