Not the police changing the story, a revised version from the newspaper's end. I'm guessing the paper was quick to print a story before they got the entire story :smt012
Posting this story wasn't a call to make all truckers look bad, it was posting a story that at the time was looking for information from the public. After getting the REVISED version of the story now you can see what the real story is.Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
I don't think anyone thought you were trying to make drivers look bad. I know I didn't. What I commented on was after other postings on the thread saying the SUV was at fault, others still were posting that the Driver should be hung out to dry.
It's all personal opinions, we all have them and we all state them.
You have a great day and it's a good thread, thanks for starting it.Starmushrooms Thanks this. -
So it wasnt the truckers fault for the accident? O.K. thats fine. but what about not stopping? i guess there is no such thing as a good samaritan act in the U.S. what about lead by example? Professional driver involved but not at fault and not stopping to render aid? Screw him! if i should have a wreck on the road and its my fault, at least do me a favor and stop to see if i'm alive. i know your on a real HOT load but check on me anyway. thanks
Starmushrooms and Giggles the Original Thank this. -
if you don't know about something, it's the same as if it never happened from your perspective. Why would you stop for nothing? Maybe the driver really is a serious POS. But maybe, he was talking to his wife or kids on the phone, minding his own and a vehicle behind him lost control and spun out. There would be no way for him to know there was something to stop for. Please reference post #11 above.
Me? Personally, I'm with 07-379 and am not going to look for an excuse to keel-haul this driver. -
Law Enforcement says there may not have been ANY contact. Therefore....there would have been nothing for the driver to have noticed.
If you have a wreck on the highway and I don't see it, hear it or get hit by you I'm not going to know you had it therefore I'm not going to stop.07-379Pete Thanks this. -
What's with all this talk about hanging or shooting this guy before we know all the facts? Obviously, we need to tie this guy down and waterboard him so we can get all of the facts, THEN hang him. You people are in too much of a rush sometimes.
07-379Pete, Injun and Texas-Nana Thank this. -
Harsh maybe not, premature yes it was. The original story is full of red flags. First off there had to be a witness to tell that truck was involved and the color was either red or maroon, I give'em thats a hard call on that color, then comes the fuzzy parts, they dont know for sure what kind of trailer the truck has but it should have significant front damage.
Anyone thats been driving truck for more than a day should know by now any truck crash story is big news to the media types, even if its a pickup truck they will twist the headlines and say "Truck hits car, 3 dead" only to find out it was a 1/2 ton pickup.Giggles the Original Thanks this. -
I agree 07-379, that's why I didn't comment when I saw the first report. On the other hand, I can't blame anyone for their comments with the information they had. The thing that really bugs me is that the site the original link points to didn't issue a correction and instead just changed the story.
