I have a friend 60 plus years old, wanted to drive a truck, Got on with a Local LTL, did very well, but the pay was So So. It was his life long dream to drive a truck. He no longer drives. Saw him 2 months ago, asked how he is doing, he said we moved, to an appartment building, I said, Say what, an appartment? He said yes, but, I own the whole building, paid cash for it.
He said, these days, you can NOT make the money you should be making, driving a truck because of the New Drivers doing it for nothing, and O/O doing it for nothing, so, I invested into something that has a good payout. Smart guy.

Lots of owner ops are sitting at a beach somewhere right now and lots are trying to make enough money to pay next weeks bills. Some will be billionares and some will lose everything. Got to let your friend dance the dance. It could be a learning curve if nothing else.

Most people who have been in business for any length of time will be experienced at planning their work and managing their time. They should be comfortable at assessing risk. Most will have enough working capital to see them to get rolling. I don't know if this guy will make it or not, but sometimes you've just got to try.

    Hamsterrock74 Thanks this.

Maybe he can lease the truck on with a company and ride along with the driver that they put in it?
