changes and regulations, its all about money!!
talking safety? we need million milers to make the trucking laws and regulations, no one else knows what it is really to live on the road; and to get there we need to arange a North American truckers strike to get new rules in place, reduce fuel prices and to heck with all those none sence people that don`t know a bit about trucking - truckers own the roads or else the markets would be left empty.
anything less than 11hours of driving will put me out of business.

It will never happen, a strike. Too many newbys and not enough old school besides a convoy would be great and a sign of real power, but no one has the gonads to do it. We as drivers could really make this industry the respected one that it used to be if only alot of the drivers knew what respect was.. Self respect that is... We almost had it done back in 2003 down in texas we had 200 trucks lined up and ready to go then for some reason it fizzled out. Don't know why probably 200 different reasons, but for some reason...

The government doesn't really care about safety; all they care is about making it look like they are doing something, ala the new CSA2010 law, and making as much money off of the new CSA2010 laws, as they can do so.

It ain't gonna get ANY better, only worse, for many drivers out there. Lots of them will simply be drivers that just made a couple of "mistakes".

Them's the cold, hard facts, folks. You can either deal with them, or not.

I have`nt seen government care about truckers at all, they care about them selfe and the more rules and regulations come in just make it harder for the working people; the black box will do a lot of damage to the whole industry.
why am I saying this? unless you reader know better? let me put it this way: I`m getting to my destination in the late afternoon, unload and off to the sleeper, I awake early in the morning and wait for reload, at 4pm I get reload info, head down to shipper : here`s my picup #, oh! yeah but it won`t be ready before 6pm, ok now I`m loaded, it`s 7pm and be at receiver by 7am sharp (600miles), how much sleep did I get in last 24 hours? now with the black box it would`nt happen `cauz hours start counting as soon you start your truck in the morning, you see what I`m getting at?
we have a hard time making any money allready, freight will have to go up, fuel down and who knows what ever else.
let me tell you this: I`ve got my few trucks and know what I`m saying; just yesterday I got my statements and gues what?: one truck cleared .47cents per mile, the driver takes .38cents, now I`m left with .09cents for mantaining the truck and it`s due for 10 new tires, can you imagen? I don`t care how much new laws come in, if they don`t make it easyer financialy on the truckers, we will be forced to make our own rules be overtaking, it`s all about trucking, the truckers should have the right of say - keep looking - more to come

Why is it pathetic? He could have dedicated customers that he's set up that are 11hours out and 11hours back.

I'm sure that there are many like this, or has no one thought of that? :biggrin_2552:
