I had to do what I called a Refresher course Watkins Shepard actully required me to go back to school all over again, I only call it a refresher because I didnt have to take a test at the end.

I did it at Charlotte Truck Driver Training School, Since I already had the CDL they only Charged me $2900 its a 4 week course if you go mon-thur or like I did weekends it took 10 weeks.

I had a thread just like thisone under the School section, I wrote all about it, Its the only school in NC that I would recomend going to if you want to come to WS, only because they will teach you how to drive not run up and down the interstate. If you want the most out of that school do the weekend course, during the week the owner is there so the instructions only run them up and down the interstate and 4 lane roads because thats what he wants, if you go on the weekends the instructors do what THEY want, which is take you down country roads, backwood trails, mountains, DOWN TOWN CHARLOTTE, and everything in between.

note to current and prospective students: that is what you need to be able to do to succeed at watkins and shepard. if all you can is run up and down the interstate, go with a carrier that sends you out with a trainer...

That's a fact, WS is definitely the equivalent to trial by fire!...It's a good thing it's also like a family, there's always someone to call when you have a question BEFORE you go thru each trial!

I got to the shipper 15 min before the Apt time, it only took me 5.25hours to get there. It was a drop and hook.

I then took that empty around the corner and dropped it and hooked to a loaded trailer.

Then I drove to the SFS terminal to get my ifta stickers and my registration.

Then I hauled but up here to the TA Las Vagas...This truck stop in now on my list of TS to avoid!!!!!!:biggrin_25510:

EVERY time I come here theres only one spot and its the hardest and tightest one here, and last time I was here on Christmas EVE all of the resteraunts where closed ALL 3, so No food! then today its New Years EVE and of course they're ALL closed again!

So I was talking to the manager while I was buying a bunch of crap to eat, and he said it sucks that there closed and that it really hurts there buissness, so I said "You bet it hurts your Bussness, at least from me this is the last time I'm comeing here...."

I'd rather go waste $15 on some crapy food from the Dennys at the Flying J's up the street!

So anyway I got a load from LA to MI, It supposed to be there Sunday night at midnight!:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559: when she sent it to me last night I literaly did this >>:biggrin_2559:<< there is NO way that is possible, so I said I can not do it, and shes says well deliver it on tuesday and I say can't do that Either I dont have enough hours comeing back to me in the next few days, so shes like well then deliver it on wensday! soo I said ok I CAN do that lol 2300miles by wen sure no problem.

I did a quick worst case planning when she sent it to me, and Was thinking ok, 55 in CA, then the mountains and which the day before required chains (which i dont have enough of) then mountains in CO again I dont have enough chains, then 55 in IL, then 55 in MI, plus theres snow and ice in most of the country so I figure best case 38 hours....and I figured I could drive 3 of which today.

Well I got it down to 32 hours and 11min aways according to the GPS.....So I'm trying to decide if i want to do a reset and then run hard and get it there wen morning (not likeing that option) OR according to my quick math when I got here I should be able to just recap to get it there on Tuesday Provided I dont run into any problems but even then I could still deliver on wen....

This was answered but I wanted to add to it. My drive instructor in school taught floating (the other one taught double clutch) so that's all I knew. When I got to orientation I let them know that....no problem they said, you'll learn! It's not that hard once you get used to it.
