Yes, cabovers are crap......regardless of brand. Here is a real oilfield truck, engine is where it should be.

FriedTater Thanks this. -
Um....Cat owns Perkins, thats why the backhoes have Perkins engines.
Cat has not tried to pass of these trucks as a full Cat product, they have made no secret of the fact that the trucks are Navistar based with Cat engines, hence the joint venture company called NC2.
We have a CT610 and CT630 sitting in our shop at the moment, they are pretty much as expected, pretty comprable to a century class freightliner in fit/finsh/quality. the CT630 doenst look to bad to work on but the CT610 is not very nice under the bonnet, time will tell how they last, the first one to be delivered from our shop should be on the road by late January. -
You should see the SEA of these #### things sitting at Cat in Tullamarine..
LMAO its like watching rabbits multiply..

I've heard there's a few down there now, I was there a few months ago and they wouldnt let us tour the factory
.
Got a few orders for them already so it looks like people are willing to give them a try. -
anything under 385" WB stays on asphalt
That there,be a "working truck"
Hmmmmmm ? why no poles ?
125 gal fuel pots? ,good for a steady 8 hrs
-
I can't say what the truck is or isn't but I can say that you are exactly right about CAT buying a 2nd or 3rd tier brand name out, like Gomaco or Bomag, painting it yellow and rebadging it CATERPILLAR - and suddenly it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. They've done it many times in the construction industry. I have a big CAT in my Pete and I love it, but facts are facts.
