In fairness, I smoked for 15yrs before I quite. The first few weeks were the worst. Now 3yrs later. I'm doing good, though I still reach for one when I'm driving alone, or at a bar with a beer in hand.
how many of you smoke?

You'll have to drop that stuff before you can get a CDL. Chantix is not allowed by the DOT.

Never smoked a cigarette in my life. Never will.

Smokers are 3 times more likely to get diabetes as non-smokers. Smoking also makes it harder to get diabetes under control. I quit last night. Tired of going to the gym and not being able to do what I want to do due to lack of breath. Years ago a friend and I used to work out together. After we worked out we would have a pack of cigarettes and a few cases of beer. After watching this for a spell his sister said "You two might be getting stronger but you sure aren't getting in better shape."
Let us know how it goes, your triumphs and any temporary setbacks you may have.lilillill Thanks this. -
Seriously?
I've been taking it for a few months. Will it disqualify me if I stop now? I start Jan. 10 for Central Ref. Are the patches allowed?
-
I don't know the particulars on it. I don't think I've seen anything about the patch being an issue. I'll see if I can find something about Chantix in the regs.Raincatcher Thanks this.

Thanks Lilbit! I just started back up on the Chantix yesterday after being off of it for 5 weeks. The only side effect was some very strange dreams. Guess it's back to Tootsie Pops and chewing gum.

This is all I was able to turn up on a quick search. Talk to your doc ASAP.
Here's the link to the info as well as I did not quote the whole thing.
Raincatcher Thanks this. -
The only time I ever smoke is if I'm REALLY drunk, and even then hardly ever... if I light up at all, it's usually one of those little flavored cigars, like a Swisher Sweet or an Optimo, and I only take a few hits before setting it down. I also like a couple hits off those while camping, after I've had heaps of beers round the campfire. As in all things, moderation is the key... I know heavy smokers pay a heavy price when it comes to their health. What else to say? It's a filthy habit and it kills ya, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna quit taking an occasional hit now and then...

I will be talking to her this week. That's pretty shipoopy since it is known for a very good success rate. But I will find something else, pronto. Thanks again for the heads-up, Lilbit.
