    Whats up all...

Question for all, my company is moving me into a Freightliner "Cornodo",
nice as hell truck, but HEAVY....Its gross weight is 20 k
Any advice on how to make this truck scale when most my loads are 40 -45 k

Mind you it does have a trip pac

If I do the math it comes out like this

21 k (probably after fuel and gear)
18 K Trailer (at least that's what it says on the GVWR plate on the trailer,
although its registration says 12.5 k)
    45 k Load...

Comes to 84 k although like I said couple trailers I've hauled. the plate doesn't match the registration...

Monday when I head back out i'm going to top it off and weigh just the tractor to get the exact weight....
But even so, if I push max capacity, would moving the fifth wheel forward be helpful or should I just work the tandems to get it right ??

    Any advice would be appreciated.....

    Thank you all

Have a good New Year, and be safe !!!!

Go to the truckstop and weigh it MT and then you know for sure what your MT weight is.

Then when dispatch sends you to load 45,000 you can say NO and have FACTUAL proof.

ps:I doubt you are that heavy MT

I'll bet the GVWR is the trailer rating per axle.

Your MT weight is not 39 K ( 21 + 18 ), unless something is very strange. The most it should be, even if a reefer, is around 35,000. Weigh it,that is the only way to know for sure, but do not worry about being 39 MT. I doubt it.:biggrin_25513::biggrin_25513:

Weigh it empty, tanks full with a trailer. Pete 387's are heavy too. With the reefer and APU, I'm limited to 44,600. But I hardly get maxed out loads. Most are around 42,000. Check your steer tire rating too. You might have the 7,150 lb tires.

Your empty weight is, you, your tooth brush, tanks full and an empty wagon. Take this total and subtract from 80,000 to get net payload.
I couldn't help but notice on you profile that you have been trucking 22 yrs and you haven't learned this by now?

All good advice.... The trailers I'm pulling are all dry vans, 53' ...
and Gear jammer is correct, I do have 22 yrs under me...Locally..
and all the loads I pulled were under 25k ...With a day cab not too many
scaling issues there.... So the scaling thing is still kinda new ..
I should define local...I ran to across Michigan (Grand Rapids to Detroit)
I was let go, so now I'm getting the real experience running OTR...

Getting some of these trucks legal with a heavy tractor can be a chore... if you can't get legal run the backroads... I see many of those in your future... good luck.
