Wow. She is playing "read my mind" and if you can do that you could make millions at other occupations. My experience with my wife is when she will not tell me the problem and expects me to already know, it is usually a whole bunch of small things that have now all come together to form "a major problem". In other words, even she can not explain it because it is so complicated and intertwined.

Which is another way of saying...
She is needy in some respects.GoneButNotForgotten and GuysLady Thank this. -
Have you thought about going to counseling to find out why she is mad at you all the time?
I agree with most posts. Until you find out the root of her anger, going OTR may end your marriage, 15 yrs or not, women at truck stops or not. -
Diamonds, gold, new cars...

Truth in the matter, recruiters lie and paint false pictures. It will take you a year or two to make normal money. You take that first year, you'll make about $32K. Minus paying the school back, minus $200-250 week road expense, you won't have diddly left.
So unless you are prepared to tough it out a year, trucking isn't an instant remedy. You could get 6 months OTR in and than seek out a local LTL company like UPS or Conway. Work 3rd shift as a road driver and be home everyday. Then you can both be together 2nd shift.
Family comes first! Part of the problem is you have no time together. There are other options if you look. -
But the recruiter said there were these type of women! was he lying?

Think you could drive team? There are several companies in the Mt Airy area that run reefers to the west coast and back. You would not be out 3 weeks and running team would not be stopped long enough for any wild women if that's what she is worried about.
I heard Hardy Brothers is paying $750 a week during training now. Other companies to look at are LC Transport, Cooke, and WLA. They are all right there in your area. You will also need some training. Since you have a current CDL you can take a refresher class at the Sage School at Surry Community College in Yadkinville
You mentioned a teenage son. Maybe she is worried about something happening to him, getting into trouble or hurt or something that needs a mans touch. Like other have said getting her on board is of paramount importance if you want to stay married.
Perhaps she has prejudiced opinions against truck drivers. Many do and there are lots of drivers who perpetuate those stereotypes. There are also some of us newer drivers and lots of old hands who are just hard working family men. Maybe she is just scared you will be in an accident.
I left a good paying white collar type job to do this 3 years ago and couldn't be happier. My wife had some reservations. I also have a 16 year old son. Its tougher now that he is driving. -
shes crazy! crazy I tell you

we have a 12yr old daughter which thank god really is a good girl. i don't take recruiters at they're word i've been talking with drivers also. so far everything that has been told is being backed up. she's not really needy abit controlling at times. she hates change of any kind for anything. no matter where i'm at if i know what time it is i can tell you just about what she's doing everyday. i've talked about counseling she tells me we can't afford it. i know she's stressed out about work and some other stuff. the worst part is she stresses over stuff she has no control over. i'll tell her and try to convince her she can't do anything about it just be prepared for it. she tells me she can't help it. i know she's crazy nobody would hang with me this long if they wasn't . i've been otr in expediting back in 05/06 she didn't mind it just got starved to death at the end so i got out. i think she thinks the same thing will happen again , but i'm not making the same mistakes twice. as far as money goes i'll gross about 24,000 this year. if i go back to underground companies around here i'll lose $2 to $3 an hour in pay.
