Are there any independant owner/operators leased to USX that can tell me how it is overthere?
Please, NO lease/purchace types, I'm talking about trucks from outside, where ya brought it with you when you leased on.
Thanks in advance!

Well Bigcove, looks like I'm gonna lease to them anyway. I've been schedualed for orientation with USX & SNI. (2 job offers) It's been tough deciding between them as I like SNI so much.
Here were the deciding factors...
-USX plates/permits the truck with no chargeback. SNI charges back for that.
-USX will pay 3rd. party lumpers (100%when required, SNI, $100.00 max.
-USX trailers are A/R, SNI's are on springs.
-USX says 2-3 weeks out, SNI says 3-4. (I live in AZ)
-Every time I call the USX recruiter she answers the phone, and doesn't rush me asking questions. The gal at SNI does fine but usually needs to call me back. Sometimes hours later.
I'm just trusting my instincts on this one! A leap-of-faith as I call it. I will go with USX even tho I have been leased to SNI in the past and have no complaints.
Sure hope this is the right decision. Wish me luck?
edit; If anyone out there knows anything I oughta know, please say so quick. Thanks!bigcove and The Challenger Thank this. -
I worked for USX as a company driver from 99-01 and back then there were alot of owner/ops there but you hardly ever see any on the road anymore. Don't know why. I will say USX was not very honest though.
twolane Thanks this. -
Best laid plans of mice & men.
Looks like the deal with USX didn't work out due to my insurance guy being on vacation and not available to confirm my loss-run report for 05-09. (theres nothin'on it but USX wouldn't read between the lines & I ain't waiting another week.)
SNI did pick me up today tho and orientation happens Monday. Couldn't hardly go wrong with either so I guess it's all good. -
I am currently a company driver with SNI and will become an independent contractor within the next two months. I will be able to stay on my same dedicated account. I am getting my truck from outside Schneider.
My uncle is retiring and giving me a great deal on his paid for truck. -
Cool!
C-ya out there. -
Cool!! I worked there from '99 to '02. Were you out of the Dayton/Medway Terminal?
I actually had a very good experience with USX. It was kinda rocky at first with getting used to the way things were done over there. Other than that, I had a good time and made pretty good money for a beginner.
I have heard some real horror stories from drivers since I left, but I can't personally complain. -
Big Cove,
How many months of driving do they require before you can become a L/OLast edited: Jan 6, 2011
