I'll bet I'm dykier than you are. I throw people out of bars, I can rebuild a car or an airplane, and I pleasure a woman every time, even the young ones. I can even stand up to pee...I just can't see where it goes.
I'm still working on getting laid with my pants on, though...that's a tough one.

Cut a hole in them.

I can't make any sense whatsoever out of the first sentence, having a foundation in previous statements made by you regarding "BFIs." I'm confused as to your definition of "BFI" now. Is a BFI a large company that "screws" the drivers pounding at their doors for a truck? Or is a "BFI" a company that pays very well but won't hire based on discriminatory preconceptions? Which is it?
O/P:
I'm half tempted to apply to all of the mentioned companies just to see what they say. Ladies? Anyone want to help me flood their HR departments with applications from women?
And to you ....er.... guys.... who think I need help out here because I'm a natural-born XX-carrying chickie...why don't you ask the dozens of MEN who have accepted my assistance in sliding tandems, backing, moving 5th wheels, getting out of the mud, rewiring lights, figuring out a tough log book problem and any of a number of other issues I have helped them with whether I'm capable of doing my job?
No, I'm not "dykish" by any stretch of the imagination. I am female and I love being female. But that doesn't mean I'm weak. Do not make assumptions about me based on the status of my indoor plumbing. Outdoor plumbing only means you have one more "thing" to be protective about.
As far as rape? That's a BS excuse. First, you'd have to catch me. Second, you'd have to get past my considerable temper. And finally, you'd have to be able to control every movement of my hands while attempting to get what you want. You better bring friends with you. Problem with that is, 95% of men I have been in contact with are not animals. This even includes 1%ers. They have women in their lives they care about. Since they would hate to see such things happen to their wives, daughters, sisters and mothers, most would not allow them to happen to other women. Therefore, I believe that is just a scare tactic used by men who feel threatened a woman might do a better job and said man might actually have to work for his pay. -
I taught truck driving under a union sponsored CDL program at Oxnard Community College for a few years. It was a pretty tough 18 week course which covered everything from dump trucks, heavy equipment, doubles etc. I can honestly say that my very best students were female. They approached the course on a business like basis without a lot of preconceived "macho/cowboy" BS. To them, it was a step out of their office gigs and making more money without relying on a man to support them. They listened well and in almost all circumstances out performed the guys. None of them ever told me "I can't because I'm female"..Most of them went on to decent union jobs with major grocery chains, construction and freight companies. Quite a few were able to be placed in oilfield jobs in the West and a few have emailed me over the years to say that they were in the fields in Alaska. IMHO, what sex you are doesn't have much difference in how you perform the job. Either you can do it, or you don't.
Injun, doubledragon5 and Lilbit Thank this. -

My guess is ZERO to NONE.
I've helped all kinds of people with stuff, didn't matter what they had on their head, color of their skin or if they entered the door marked "Male, Female, or Other" to go to the bathroom.
Doesn't matter who or what you have sex with as well. Dealing with people like you make me ashamed to share the planet with you.Morella Thanks this. -
As much as everyone wants equal rights, the fact is women and men aren't equal. Not saying one is better then the other, but it's just a fact that women are built diferent then guys. Oilfield work is a physically demanding job, and I've never seen a truck driver in the oilfield that just drove a truck. Given the choice between the few women drivers applying and the hundreds of man drivers, I think the safe bet would be with the man driver. I understand women get the attitude of "I can do every thing a man can do physically just as well", doesn't make it true. Sure some women can do more physically then some men, but with all the people trying to get driving jobs, why take on the extra hassle of hiring one woman in a group of men. Same would go the other way. If I was hiring for a job that was predominately women, and had dozens of applicants that included one man, wouldn't it be easier to hire the woman?
Instead of worriyng about equal rights and equal opportunities, I think the better choice would be hire the most qualified person.JerryC and AfterShock Thank this. -
But you can't dismiss a candidate simply based on "It's too strenuous for a female". You post the job description and physical requirements - it's up to the applicant to meet the standard, regardless of age/gender.
But you're hitting the nail on the head with the last sentence. I think companies just want to avoid the potential for whatever "bad thing" they think will happen - from hiring an applicant who can't do the job, to messing with "guy chemistry", to the potential for a harrassment suit. It's BS, really. -
I understand that legally you can't discriminate. But as far as it being up to the applicant to meet the standards, not really. It's up to the employer who they feel is most qualified. The way society is now has made it kind of hard to openly hire whoever you want, regardless of race, sex, handicap, whatever. But at the end of the day, it's not right to tell someone who to hire.
As far as can't dismiss based on being too strenuous, that is ridiculous. You are right, but it's a shame that it's that way. People are nuts, you will always have people appyling for jobs they can't do. Doesn't mean you should have to hire them.
If I go thru the trouble of starting a business, and I am racist, sexist, or anything else, it's no one's business but mine. I shouldn't be forced to hire someone I don't feel comfortable hiring. Whether I'm right or wrong, it's my choice how I want to handle my business. Government intrusion is trashing this country.JerryC and AfterShock Thank this.
