Looks like driving school is FINALLY in my near future.

I'm trying to work up a list of companies that will hire grads out of my area, and I'm looking to the skateboarders of the forum to help me out. Right now I'm planning on applying to the following companies on Day 1 of class:

    Howard Transport
    McElroy
    Grayson Mitchell
    Boyd Brothers
    Builders

I know, I know, I don't have Maverick on here. That's because they only hire glass haulers from around here, and I haven't been hearing good things about the glass division, so I'll probably steer clear of that one.

But who am I missing guys? If there's anybody else that you would recommend PLEASE let me know. Y'all are best, and I hope to see you on the road soon.

Doesn't maverick also only use autos? Not sure. Anyway, TMC is a good one, melton another, swift has one of their three main flatbed terminals down the road from you in Greer, SC. Those are good ones I've heard about. You looking for otr?

Just a thought,O.K.? I started right out of the gate pulling a flat OTR for a farmer in my area,-how he got me through his insurance I do not know,-(I have an idea though)but after 15 months of working for him I could almost sign on anywhere, and no schooling either.:biggrin_25519: Just a thought man....

You might try Decker out of Ft. Dodge, Ia.

Koch, out of Mn. used to do flatbed too.

Two smaller companies to talk to.

McElroy...I know, its already on your list, but I'm just saying that you should focus on them.

There is also CST or CT or something (NOT CRST)...I think its Coastal Transport or something like that. I have no idea about the company, but I remember seeing a lot of their trucks when I was running up and down I95.

Ah!! Thank you, I forgot about Melton, they'll probably be half way up my list. TMC and Swift I'll probably apply to mid-way through school if I don't hear much positive news from the others.

Another one I had forgotten about. And the 'CT' you put in there made me think of Cypress as well. Any thoughts on them?

If I lived in your area beancounter I would definately put CT on my list. They seem to be a good company. If you want- go to YouTube and type in "dixietrukr". This guy lives in TN and drives for CT. He has a lot of videos about CT if you want to check them out.
