No, not me, I can't speak for the others though. I've always kind of trucked off the beaten path. I started hauling sod in central Florida, quite the experience, I've hauled bulk cement in pneumatic tanks, as well as ground rubber. I've worked for a tire recycling facility hauling whole tires, as well as the finished product to landscapers as well as asphalt plants. I've ran dumps for my current company hauling all types of aggregates, metals, feeds, and whatever else you can put in a dump trailer all around the southeast and for the time being I've found my place in refuse. It's good, but I still get the itch to get out there and run for a few days at a time, it's nice to get out there on your own every now and then, helps you remember what's important at home.

Well I got a nice little suprise today in the form of Pritchett paying our last quarterly bonus a little early. We got our 500 dollars a few days before Christmas, they didn't have to do this but it's just one of the little things I appreciate about this company. Merry Christmas to everyone, I'll post after the first of the year to let everyone who's interested know how my year turned out, should be somewhere around $44,000.
The Challenger and JustSonny Thank this. -
Well here it is, $43,265.20. Not quite what I was shooting for, missed my 44 mark by a few hundred dollars, but I guess I didn't realize how payroll works. Although the year ended on a Friday, which is when we turn our paperwork in, our payroll dept. works with the calendar year, therefore my last week of 2010 which would have put me over the $44,000 mark was paid out for the first week of 2011 payroll....Confusing? Yes, but to be honest I'm still satisfied with everything, now my new years resolution for 2011 is to back it down a bit and spend more time with my wife, and not so much time with the truck. So long as I can still make a decent living and not put in so many hours, this year should be another productive one. Maybe as the year progresses I'll have more interesting things to post, but for now it's more of the same; I'm running to Valdosta quite a bit and still hauling the trash when time allows it.

Good for you, at the end of the day if you are happy with what you do than that's all that matters. Don't loose sight of what you have at home, that's irreplaceable. Happy new year!

Well I'd be ignorant to say I didn't lose sight of the homelife this past year, but I think I've got my head on straight for 2011 so as long as I can make a decent living and still enjoy life I'll be happy. BTW it's cool who you meet from this site, I've met Oldnewbie who was a real nice guy, and have actually become really good friends with Bulldogfan who posts on here from time to time and works for Pritchett as well.

Just hit my 3 years with Pritchett this past Friday, Jan.28, 2011. It was one of the toughest weeks so far I've put in with the company, sludge is running like crazy now, I logged 2,900 miles and actually have to use my 34hr restart before returning to work Monday, keep in mind I'm a local driver but since I've been running in to Georgia for the last 3 months I have to log on the 70 hour clock. I pulled 15 loads of sludge last week for my best gross yet, $1,025.00, weeks like this are not the normal but things are still going well here in Tallahassee with averages around the $800 range. Hope the new year is treating everyone well, it's honestly been a rough start for me around here, just circumstances with the truck that were out of my hand, but hopefully things will start turning around and the sun will start shining down here, I swear it rains like the northeast down here, I'm not fond of the gray skies and rain, I live in Florida for a reason "The Sunshine State".

It's good to see your keeping busy.I can relate on getting burned out on the long runs. After 2 years on a gravy 280 mile round trip run from South Bend to Indy, the company I drove for (Ryder) switched accounts and I got a 520 mile round trip run from South Bend to Cleveland.
At first I thought I would hate it,but I grew to like it after a while. It seems there is always a better run than what you are currently doing.
I seem to recall you saying in an earlier post that you wanted to get out and stretch your legs...be careful what you wish for, ha ha ha.
Regardless of the runs you're on,I think many other drivers envy your position, getting home every night and making good money.
After the last 2 years of doing 10-15 stops a day on my LTL P&D route I find myself yearning a long run sometimes.I usually run about 200 miles a day.
Which reminds me of some big news,my company,Milan Express, has sold their LTL division to Vitran.
The main reason for the buyout was Vitran did not service NC,SC,GA,AL,and MS.Milan had about 40 service centers in 12 Midwest and Southeastern states.
Vitran is a Canada based company, and this buyout will have them servicing about 40 U.S. states and all of Canada.
My fellow Milan drivers and I are a bit stressed right now because the switch is coming February 20,and we're not sure if we even will have a job.
Indiana is an "overlap state",meaning Vitran already has a terminal in South Bend,so I'm not sure how many of us Milan drivers they will need.I am #4 out of 7 drivers,so time will tell.
As for the rain your seeing, you'll get no sympathy from me,lol. We have got over 6 feet of snow up here in 2 months, and 3 feet of it was in a 3 day period. With temps below freezing all of this time and a few single digit days,I'm ready for spring!!!
