I haven't seen anything posted about Ups freight in quite some time, so I was wondering what opinions are out there about this company?

I too am interested in this company. Although I have heard about many former Overnite drivers that did not take kindly to the buyout and quit since UPS took over. Not sure how things are shaking out now a days but maybe we will get some current UPS Freight drivers to chime in with their experiences.

You need min.of 1 year experience + hazmat. Not easy to get in,a buddy of my got in after 2 years trying to get in with them.I think pay around $18-$22 an hour,I could be off a few bucks.BigJon310 Thanks this.

I have been employed there as a linehaul driver for 5 months. The top rate pay is excellent and no one quits unless they are starving at the bottom of the board. I have been running every night on cue around 9 or 10 pm.
Starting pay is okay at 37 cpm and $15 per hour, it goes to 40.7 cpm and $16 and change per hour after 45 days. You will get raises yearly, when you hit top rate the pay is 62 cpm and $24.15. This will get progressively higher until the expiration of the contract in July on 2013 when the top rate is 66 cpm and $26.15 hourly. The only thing you dont get paid for hourly is drivetime and paperwork.
There are many drivers at different terminals who may get out 2 or 3 days a week or less there first couple years, plan on having a second job if need be. UPS has also been hiring independent contractors to save $$ but the union has been trying to put a stop to that and the grievance is in arbitration. If you can hang on a few years and get a bid route our drivers make anywhere from 65k to 105k, working 40 to 70 hours a week.
