were you able to get the name of the company on the truck,

when something like that happens you should at least try to get the company's name and the number of the vehicle whether it is a truck # or trailer #, they would be able to trace it that way.

My sister was hit by an 18 wheeler in 2001. Coming around the the I-24/I-75 South split, he didn't change lanes fast enough and clipped her rear end as he passed. She went spinning off the shoulder into the grass.

Of course she couldn't get any details spinning like a top. The truck ran and she only had collision insurance. Cost her $3400 out of her own pocket. The trucker was never found.

Hmmm from her post how have you determined it was the truckers fault. No information about this "accident" has been given.
85% of accidents between 4 wheeler and big truck are the 4 wheelers fault. You should reserve your judgment untill you have some REAL facts. Also depending on where they hit the driver may not have felt it or even known it occurred, therefore he didn't stop.
    ps
    Glad no one got hurt.

Yellow could also be New mexico--as for Fl--the over 150 plates now available--are still not available for commercial trailers--Still either lite green(perm trailer) or regular fl state tag(orange/red on white) with orange(fruit)in background--Wish they did--since trailer is still reg. to family business at home--Mine would have a GATOR tag--LOL.
Anyway 2 best bet for Yellow are Ga+NM--but as other poster says"new ms tags now yellow--just less have been turned over yet.
Also as other poster stated--your insurance company--with a little more of this info can check all 3 of these states DMV's to check for a matching #--then backtrace it to that company--and see if they had a unit in the area--yout insurance company(most do) have these abilities at their fingertips. Remember insurance is to make money--not pay it and most will exhaust every possibility b-4 paying a claim--and the good one's that do pay YOU properly and quickly--typically spare no expense about going after ANY one else involved inan effort to recover some/or all of their costs!
    Good Luck!

I don't think it matters if you know the state...If the police run the plate it will show, if duplicates numbers exist, which belongs to a semi...If a few turn up, a call to the companies asking if that truck was in the area would turn up the culprit...They do have the ability to check ALL states...

And police laughing?...With the attitudes people say police have for truckers, you wouldn't think they'd be laughing, could be more to this story...Just saying...
