Ads on Craigs List:

He's going to be lucky if his next co driver with benefits doesn't pull a knife on him and steal his truck.

 

Devil's Advocate here, what if the writer of the ad is also female? Changes things a bit, eh? Trucking is typically a "male profession" but there are a few ladies out there.

In any case, I don't think CL is a good way to pair a team. The potential for sketchy applicants is huge.

I also spend a lot of time on CL, and get quite a few laughs at some of the ads.

i too spend a lot of time on there. it's really been a very useful tool. i've rented out a room in my house from there, will be renting out this apartment i put in my house once i renovate it from the last tenants. there are some weirdo's i've met off there for sure, but in general everyone i've dealt with via craigslist are usually pretty decent people. the owner of craigslist is truly doing a great public service to the world by keeping it 99% free and not letting it be taken over by cooperations.

 

hey now come on i met my grilfriend on rraigslist neither of us are crazy or weird she'se the greatest girl ive ever dated. doesnt bother me, harass me, always very caring and sweet to me. but this is not the norm. i've met girls on there before and all were absolute lunatics. i jsut put an ad on there figuring what hte hell in ever thought i'd meet the girl i thought never existed. plese calm down tih the CL bashing its hurting my feelings a little bit. u wdont wanna hurt myf eelings do you?

 

That's what I was thinking. I failed to see the humor.

I've had only limited, recent experience w/CL (none in the personals). Tried to sell off some stuff from cleaning out my closets, garage, etc. Very few replies to any of my ads, but once a I received a legitimate reply (that was not spam), I had good success closing the sale.

 

I sold a power inverter on CL. A trucker called me from down in GA. He wanted me to drive down to Chattanooga and meet him. I told him that was an hour away. He said I'll give you $20 for gas. I told him my p/u was a gas hog, I don't know. He said I'll give you $30 to come down here. I agreed. We met at ThermoKing and it was a smooth transaction.

Usually the buyer negotiates a better deal and I was willing. That was the first one, me as the seller negotiated a better deal. Gas was about $12, lol.
