I've been pre-hired by Crete once I finish CDL. I live north of Houston and they have been nothing but incredibly good working with me. I've read this forum till I'm blue in the face and I believe Crete has, by far, less derogatory stuff than most.
Mr. jd, your stuff is very good. Most informative, well written and documented. Don't know if I'll try the own my own and lease to Crete but the info you provide is great. Thanks.

Very nice year you've had! That 68k is impressive and you deserve every bit of it. Maybe I missed it, but have you posted pics of your new truck?

Just want to say about Crete....I worked 3 1/2 years for them ending about 5 years ago. Until my final year,I was on dedicated Pozzi window run that got me thru Ontario,Or(my ex girlfriend's house) about twice a week. I was making good bucks for a company driver. They lost the Pozzi account to Interstate Dist and that kind of screwed me up for the last year I drove for them. I was running "national" and I still continued to make good money. Because the vast majority of Crete's freight base is on the east coast, they would have me running up and down the east side for about 2 weeks before I'd begin to say it was time to gwet back home. This enabled me to get good miles due to going all the way back west every 3 weeks or so. I remember I grossed $62K for 3 years and then the last year was $67K.
The reason I quit was because I could not handle being routed and being told how many gallons to fuel and where. It totally screws with the log book....but this is to be expected if you are to drive for someone else. Overall,I think Crete is a fine company considering their size. -
Depends on what part of NC. If you are close to Greensboro or Spartanberg SC you will have better luck than other parts of the state. But getting hometime in NC isn't the easiest thing to swing. When I lived in Wilmington I routinely had to stay out for 4-6 weeks at a time while waiting for a load to get me close to the house.

Hey guys just wondering what type of freight does Crete usually haul or is it more or less if it fits in a truck they will haul it?
Also again today I saw that Crete truck pulling a shafer trailer on (290 east of Austin just in case that driver is on here) but whats up with that? Is that a shaffer driver and they are out of shaffer truckers or is crete side helping out? -
Got your message son of a trucker but I can't pm u back, not enough time in the saddle. I'm going to Houston CC. It's PTDI certified and the only one Crete will accept here. I'm starting the second half of my life and they have been very good in talking with me, helping me get all the requirements in order, etc.

Ok cool, I will check the Houston CC out and see which one is cheaper. There is a school in Elmott which is up near waco that the girl at Crete recommended. And yes I agree she has been very helpful with me too answering all my questions etc to get my ducks in a row.

That is where I went to school a little over a year ago just stopped by their on a load to Waco the other day. i started working with Crete shortly after graduating and just got a laptop in the truck. Sure missed the Forum here
