Yup I never understood that...I drove neutered trucks for quite a while but never felt the need to haul axle around the truck stop.....too much sheyat can happen in a blink.
Seen some close calls too...guys flying around the end only to lock em up cause someone was either pullin out or backin into a spot....then to make themselves feel better they rev the engine. -
It's the only place where they can feel like they are driving fast. LOL
-
I don't get it. I used the same rule in TS's that I learned in training lo those many years ago...NO FUEL IN THE YARD!! Pop it into 2nd (or 3rd depending on weight in the trailer), and ease your way around. If you gotta haul axle in the TS, ya should have managed your time better. And yes, I drove some of them thar neutered trucks. Didn't see any point in running around a TS as fast as I could go. If I feel the need for speed, I'll grab a buddy's car and head for a track somewhere, I tell you whut!
rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
shouldnt be a surprise. most of the people with common sense move on quickly from those jobs. -
I don't understand it either. What's the hurry? Today I was in a few truck stops covered in snow and I was crawling through there in like 2nd maybe 3rd gear at the most. I've had a few close calls myself where I'm slowly going around and then out of nowhere comes this other truck flying around the corner.
The worst offenders I've noticed were people hauling doubles. -
Fed-Ex drivers come to mind as the worst on the road and elsewhere. I drive one of them there nuetered trucks and I just don't have a problem with a truck that only does 63. I guess it is probably my age, I feel safe is better. Don't get me wrong, there are times I would like to go faster on the highway but in the end, I kick back and relax...those trucks doing 70+ will pass me 2 to 4 times on the same highway in a days trip. In the TS, I learned early on to take it easy, almost took the nose off a truck and didn't like the thought of that.....

i once watched a werner go flying around the end of a row and take the nose clean off a truck and he was going so fast that by the time he stopped he was completely past the truck he hit.
