I'm currently leased on to a company that I just hauled a load of frozen turkey from Waco Texas to Harmony Pennsylvania. The frozen load I took there paid a little over $1700 and is a contracted load for my company. I deadheaded back to Byseville Ohio and picked up a dry broker load to haul back to Waco Texas and it paid a little over $1900. I'm wondering why the frozen load that took more miles paid less.![]()

Maybe things coming out of Texas still aren't paying that well?....But that does seem a bit low to me also

Yep, it's all about Texas! A ton of Of drivers and O/O's trying to get out of Texas all the time, so the brokers take full advantage.

Like the others have said, and most o/o have to take a low paying load to get back where you take it to get out. Just one of the perks of living there, not.

Bent Wrench, RAG, bowtieboy and 2 others Thank this. -
Pretty basic supply and demand. If there are ten trucks to haul five loads, rates go down. If there are five trucks to haul ten loads, rates go up.

I have asked the company that I want to know what the loads pay before I haul them. I am not under forced dispatch and they will not tell what the loads pay in advance, you just get suprised when you get your settlement. I am on my last load with them right now, they can take this job and shove it.lol
. I have gotten my own authority and will say NO to cheap freight.
HEAVY DUDE Thanks this.
