My hubby is with a Transforce and they just put him on the Averitt DG account. After 90 days he can go permanent with them He was told that this was a Sun-Thurs gig, which got him home on the weekends and $800-$1000 a week. Well, he got called on Tuesday for his road test and was immediately dispatched with a trainer that evening. Well, now I am hearing from him that he may be out this weekend. We are out of the Dallas, TX area. Should we start shopping around again or give these guys a shot? Help!
Is Averitt What They Appear to Be?

His Sun-Thur gig is when he is solo and trained. While he is being trained, his soul belongs to the company and the trainer, which means you won't see him for awhile. But, the time will fly by, so don't worry and don't quit.

I hope so. Kinda stinks I was supposed to go out for my birthday tonight and that just got squashed because he will be gone.
We have been really burned by a big company so I am having a hard time trusting. We have had some really good experiences, too. Mc Elroy was a good company that he started out with and Exel was freaking awesome. Perhaps too awesome, they lost their contract and he lost his job after nearly 3 years. Anyways, just wondering if they are like the other big companies that lie through their missing teeth to get you in and leave you broke and alone.

Well first off no trucking company is exactly what they portray themselves to be ...because honestly no one in life is who they portray themselves to be....that being said once he gets done with training he should be on the normal schedule. Dollar general with werner was alot of work and some tight areas to put a truck into....if he's comfortable with it the heck yeah stay......if he gives it a shot and it's not what he is comfortable with then maybe he can transfer to another division.....good luck

Dont give up just b/c he has to stay out a weekend, what the heck! it is truck driving and most trucks do have sleepers on them, that is for staying out. Averitt is a good company from what I hear. Sounds like a good deal.
