actually logs must match for the first 5 days of evo 1 after that you can offset but no trainer should be sleeping while a student is driving

Well, I certainly can't answer to your specific experience, but here's why it would make sense. It's a lot more loads, a lot more customer contact, and, if you were a flatbedder, a lot more load securement. If you're over the road for 5 days, you're likely to do two, maybe three loads. which is about what a local driver would do in a day.
I think most of us would agree, that surface-street driving, QC, trip sheets, customers, and all the crap you have to deal with at any given terminal, is much more difficult than interstate driving.
and, I say all this to point out why *they* think it's a good idea. of course, individual results may vary, previous results are not an indicator of future returns, consult your doctor if you experience any swelling, rashes, or tentacle-like protrusions from your torso, legs, arms, or head. use only as directed, common side effects include, but are not limited to, morbid obesity, nausea, foul-smelling discharge, humorous obesity, and death. -
Yeah, NOT ok. Call the company and report it. He's not paid to lock your husband at the truck stop and go get drunk.
I get that, and on one level agree with it. Regional training would be a little better for an OTR driver training situation, because the trainer is not focused on being home every night. Would satisfy all involved...
I never got any experience backing in truck-stops either, which did result in some CB screaming once I got my own truck, lol, never hit anyone, but did take an excessively long time to get it done because I was nervous. -
lol I couldn't take all the yelling Paoldschool was doing all the time... lol j/k! I was lucky... even when I trained for securement I got the guy up in iron mountain that just was a good dude! all my trainers were good to go! trusted me and taught me what I needed if I didn't know it...
Not sure I see a real issue here. Roehl would do the same thing so I've heard. locking the truck is required. the trainee was still able to run the truck and had a key to get in and out? then no harm... I think I would have asked if the trainee minded, but ultimately not a big deal.
If something bothers your hubby he should speak up to the trainer and just let him know. If he thinks he's not learning then go to the training people and let them know... -
I have real mixed feelings on this. For a hole bunch of reasons I think it's a real bad idea to leave an inexperienced student alone at a truck stop with my truck for any extended period of time, and would never do it for a personal reason like going to visit family. But at the same time once the student is on there own they will be sitting alone at truck stops when they are doing a reset.

My 1st day trainer left me in his truck by myself on the New Jersey turnpike parked up on a curb to be with his girlfriend (and he was marriedn to another women) and the police came and told me to move because the way he parked it was difficult for other to get around and I tried calling him and of course he didnt answer or call me back. I didnt tell the cop I was a student ended up moving the truck to a spot and just barely got in. Then he came in the morning and was mad at me because I had turned my phone off and he thought I had stolen his truck and couldnt find me but he eventually walked around the rest area and found me and he yelled and screamed about me moving his truck even though I explained that the cop said to move.
But I did let Werner know about him leaving me and their response was that he was a owner op and he could do whatever he wanted and that as long as it didnt interfere with the load being on time what he did on his off time was his business even if he has a student. And then the punk left me in Ohio (to go off with his other girlfriend that was younger than me) and I knew I was done with him so I locked all his doors in the truck and caught a greyhound to the springfield terminal and droped his keys off there!!!PainNdaNeck Thanks this. -
Loved reading this one. Wish more drivers were this funny. I wish I could have seen his face when he got back to that truck.

I would feel like I was intruding going to my trainer's home. Even tho I seemed to have decent guys.
LMAO
That is funny. Be great if you had his only keys. SHould've left his truck on the curb in the first place and told the cop you were a trainee. He could yell at the impound lot people then...
