You do, indeed, have another option: be a company driver. Yes, life will still suck, but at least you won't be responsible for enormous costs you won't ever be able to pay back.

Cold hard fact!!! You wanna be a o/o? You will need at least 10% down on your tractor AND trailer. You will need your own authority!!! You WILL need at least 3 monthes operating dough to have a (maybe)fair chance at be an independant o/o. Anything less than this puts you at the mercy of ...... Name your poison!
Lease deals are stupid. You give up WAY to much. No more company paying part of health insurance, vacation not to mention a retirement program. You forfiet>company wins

in Oct 08, i did a lease/purchase with Miller Transporters.............what a mistake that was! my first month there was great, made about 4,500 $, but when nov and dec rolled around, all the owner operators got the shaft, and all the company drivers got all the loads. wasnt their fault, thats just the way it worked, o/o's got the loads that were left over. for a single guy like me, with no kids, i held on for 4 months, almost lost my house and personal vehicle.............i wouldnt recommend doint the lease purchase thing, especially right before the holidays!!
