Well, I just left this company after 3 months. I really dont have any complaints about them. They put me in a very nice truck, and treated me very well. The reason that I left is that they refuse to pay detention pay when I had to sit for more than two hours at a customer. Many times I sat for 10+ hours with nothing to show for it. The new E-logbook made it even worse. They started us at 23cpm plus per diem that became 32cpm. They had a 02cpm bonus if you ran 12,000 miles in a month. I dont see how we are supposed to make any money, especially if we sit so much. They just lost a driver with 16 yrs experience over this. I really hated to leave, but the money is not there. If they would come up with a real pay package, I would go back. 32cpm and no detention pay is just not enough to keep me there...

So now you're going to sit at home with nothing to show for it. Dude, sitting is part of trucking, unfortunately. All those times I sat at a meat packing plant in BFE for 12 or 15 hours, usually 15 miles from any town, ah, the aroma ! Some of my fondest memories.
fancypants and scottied67 Thank this. -

who you going to work for now?
-
Not sure yet. Im starting to get phone calls from all over the place again. Seems freight has picked up a bit. I would prefer daycab work like what I used to do hauling auto parts. Right now, I would even consider driving into Canada and back again, like I used to do.

32 cents a mile, 9 of it per diem ????
Regardless of experience !!!!!
Good Luck Driver ........you'll do better !!mrhoss Thanks this. -
Well good luck delta5. Sounds like you will land on your feet somewhere then. I sure would like to know who dreamed up this per diem business !
mrhoss Thanks this. -
Yes, sitting is part of trucking. Sitting for no pay for any amount of time is part of working for a bad company. Period! I don't know how they do it? Yet they do and it will continue. Sad.
Drive safealready gone and mrhoss Thank this. -
I worked there years ago when they had paper logs. The E-logs alone are enough to keep me far far away. The trucks were ok but nothing fancy and mine didnt even have an air seat on the pass side... not a big deal unless the wife rides as mine did.
