Hmmm..so the options are:
Home - can't do this due to live in a residential area that does not allow truck parking.
Truck stop - closest is 10 miles away.
Hotel that has a truck lot -if you get a room.
Other trucking companies - haven't asked yet, but doubt they would let another company park their truck/trailer there, especially loaded.
Church next door - Has allowed a driver to park there in the past, but not on Sundays. I was bribed..urr..encouraged to attend their services for parking there. Uhh, can't attend Sunday services if I cannot park there on Sundays lol.
Hmm..where else to look?
Just got my license last week and I have a question(s)

uh.....noooo......
1 or maybe 20 miles TOPS....... -
In your area, I would totally understand their parking and home time policy before sign up with that carrier. I was looking at a good company, that has plenty of freight in my area, but they required I parked at their terminal for my home time. Well their terminal was 2 hours from my house, that would cut into my home time (4 hrs driving back and forth).........plus my car was sitting down at the terminal for all 2 weeks I was out and I would have had to buy another car for my wife or have her have to come pick me up everytime I got to town. Just things you need to think about before signing up.
davect Thanks this. -
ok I didn't think so...but someone mentioned it here....thought i'd ask anyway.
-
Yeah I wish I lived close to these terminals. It seems like no carriers have terminals in CT at all. The only one I have seen so far is Cowan Systems has one in East Hartford which would work PERFECT but too bad Cowan doesn't hire recent grads LOL.

Swift let me bounce home over 200 miles for home time. 'Course I'd been out for just shy of 4 months. There's a big 'ol J about 10 minutes from my house. Parking's not a problem. I just go out and check up on the truck every day.

been thru the commie state a few times in my life....
you got Sysco (or is it Sygma) (Rocky Hill??) up on I-91, Bozzutos on I-691 (Chesire), and some LTL companies up around I-91 as well.
as stated, you might be able to park at the T/A...but things happen in parking lots....hit & run's, stolen fuel, graffiti punks, so you will always park at your own risk......
oh i meant Nooooo.....when you asked if you could bobtail more than 150 miles.....about 1 to 20 tops (in most instances)
but also....NOOOOOO....i do not live in the commie state.....but I DO train students from that state.....from time to time....... -
I think most companies want the 160hrs of class also...I know all I applied to did...The 40hr course may be an issue...
-
Yeah thats what I was worried about but I know that my school does place their graduates. It's just unfortunate that I won't have as many choices because some schools might not be interested.
