Not something I'm about to do, but I appreciate the ones who can! That raises funds for a cause near & dear, as my oldest brother was born Down's Syndrome and took part in the Special Olympics!:biggrin_25514::biggrin_25514:

    JustSonny and shriner75 Thank this.

When I was in high school one of my good friends had a sister who had Down's. She loved me!...and I loved her. She would sit in my lap, pull my hair and drool all over me. Didn't bother me one iota. The love she gave made all the other stuff seem trivial.

They are some of the most fun people to be around! I helped out many years with Special Olympics stuff when I was in school.

The dumb thing was that when my brother was born, the doc's told my mom to put him in an institution as he wouldn't live past the age of 7. Well, over 45 years later, he's still around, and still living at home with my mom.

I haven't kept up with Libby and her brother, Clay, who was my friend. If she's alive, she's gotta be pushing 54 years old or so. Her and Clay's folks may be dead, I don't know. But I know one thing for sure. If they are, Clay and/or his little brother Ray will not let Libby have anything but the best of care. They loved their little sis!

My mom and step-dad adopted several other special needs kids. Some with Down's, a couple of them have CP, and a couple had other problems. All a pretty good bunch of kids, and a few of them are complete wise guys too!

Ducks, shriner75, JustSonny and 2 others Thank this.
