Are these really made from steers? I can't imagine cattle hide has any advantage over rubber, or is it more for the looks?

Yes, they get them from Icelandic cows due to the colder weather they endure. From what I've been told, it does something to the hide that causes a change to the hide on a molecular level. They have been testing hides from Switzerland but haven't had any success. They found tiny imperfections that won't allow higher air pressures to be used.

I put on a brand new set of mud flaps, first rainstorm and they were gone

They are more for the looks. They remind me of the old western movies when some cowboys had plain leather chaps and then one guy had the real furry looking ones, same principle.rambler Thanks this.

And just how do 'air brakes' work? Do they just blow on the rotors so hard it slows the truck down?
Artbroken Thanks this. -
And what's with the landing gear? Trucks don't fly, or are they anticipating that happening?
scottied67, rambler and Artbroken Thank this.
