"Thank you for your interest in working for Watkins/Shepard Trucking. I received your application and have reviewed it; however I will not be able to extend an offer of employment at this time. I have determined it will be necessary for you to gain verifiable, recent, safe experience with another long haul company."
I'm just surprised by this. I very much appreciate the e-mail back. They didn't have to even take the time to e-mail me at all. I'm strongly assuming it has to do with the school I went to is not on their list. Politics at their best. Oh well no problem. I'm very pleased that they contacted me so I can move on in my search for my first trucking job.
I didn't get the job because of lack of experience

Nevermind I emailed her back asking why I didn't get a chance because I did have recent experience. She ended up calling me on my cell phone and apologized and realized she read my application wrong. I talked to her for about 15 minutes and she told me a lot about the company. A lot sounds great. Only bad part is I have to drive to Sayreville, NJ terminal to pick up and drop off truck. I'll have to make up my mind soon.

I don't get it....
You have *some* experience.... most of their newbies have NO experience.... but they wont hire you?
Am I missing something?
Edit: I see from your other post you have no experience. A school thing? That is just crazy. What schools do they recognize? -
Glad you got that sorted out! From the posts on here from other members that drive for them, they sound like a pretty decent company.

Yeah she was really cool on the phone. She was telling me exactly like it is. You can tell that she wasn't desperate to hire me. She left it up to me. No surprises.
I love the fact that it's 10 days and then you are out on the road with no road trainer. I have been reading a lot here and I honestly don't want to have what happened to a couple people here with bad trainers. The guy from Swift that got stranded in the truck while the trainer went inside his house. That's messed up I wouldn't be able to handle that.
She also told me that if I wanted to break things up and go out west than all I had to do was tell the dispatcher and they would get me a load to go out there. That's really cool. The only negative thing right now is the fact that I have to drive to the Sayreville, NJ terminal to pick up the truck every time I leave out and of course drop it off when I'm going home. This is the only thing that is keeping me from saying yes sign me up right away. However, I will think things through thoroughly before making the decision on going or not going. Thank you all for the support. -
Sorry To hear that!!!! I didn't get an email or phone call, and i waited 2 weeks for a reply!!! I called earlier today and was told i'm not qualified enough with almost 4 years experience come March!!! I was like "WOW" are you kidding me!!! No accidents, no terminations, no tickets, or anything!!! They take people right outta school, and turned me down flat. Thanks W&S!!!! Still probably a good company.

I am completely confused. They wont take you with almost 4 years experience?
Perhaps they only WANT new drivers? Seems to me that company would be a good change for ANY driver, experienced or not. Are they afraid of losing the experienced drivers because of the lower pay? These guys are getting enough miles to seriously challenge the earnings of someone with more experience it seems.truckerdaddy24 Thanks this. -
Noobies work cheaper !!!!!!!!!
