E logs are gonna be a fact of life in trucking very soon. You may as well get used to it.

I know they will be everwhere soon enough but a company that does not pay for the down time they cause is a joke!

In a perfect world, it would force change in the way drivers are paid, eliminate your wait times and force them to compensate you for every moment you're on duty. Believe that when you see it however.
In my side of the industry (LTL), it's made very little difference in how I do things because I get paid for everything anyway, but what it has done is make me very concious of the clock because getting my run done each day has become a concern because all flexibility has been taken away. Bad roads, wind and every other little thing plays a part now, where before I could just fudge the log a little bit.
With TL carriers, right now it appears to be a terrible thing for drivers because of all of the waiting and other un-compensated things you have to do. Time will tell if e-logs do anything for you beyond negative.

This is one of those company's that bring you in and blowing rose's up your butt, and when the new is over you get the stems and thorns, they talk saftey but there is a large wall from the saftey dept and the dispatch office, I have drove for over 31 years and have seen a lot of nutty stuff in this industry but this company really tops the cake, they have you sign a paper when you start saying you will stay 90 days and if you don't then you have to re-pay their hospiltality nice uh? that right there shows they know they are screwing you over from the start. it is really sad, because this company has all the goods to be a great place to work, but choose not to, I just wish Driver's would understand how inportant you are a man can own 5 trucks or 5,000 trucks but there not worth a dam without drivers !

Butler has E-logs but the sad thing about it is before your out of orentation their telling you how to beat the system, like when you get to a shipper go off duty, when your are delivering go off duty, well Dot says that that is on-duty not driving time, why have the system if your not gonna do it right, I cannot stand a lie or a person who does it, and this company is full of them, people who smile at you and just lie, lie, and then lie some more,
really sad....so if you like to lie on your paper work and federal dot log book come on over there plenty of room for you to ! :biggrin_25516:

I was always told that if you only put the truck in the dock and do no labor, you can get away with 15 mins on-duty and the rest off duty or sleeper berth. I have never had a dot inspector say anything about this when they inspected my logs...

I left because the sitting with out being paid time got to be too much. On my last trip, I came off of a 10 hour break. Drove 30 miles into Columbus Oh, and checked into the customer at 1130 for a noon appointment. I didnt get my bills until 1am the next morning. Thats bs...

you are still responsible for the truck and trailer however, essentially being a security guard. they should come up with some pay for that, since most security guards don't work for free. if they don't want to pay you for certain times, those are "certain times" when you should be at home drinkin beer, or working on your truck, or whatever else you like to do. I work to get paid, and i'd bet that you do too, right?

I just got my final payroll invoice this morning. Butler deducted my bus ticket, hotel room and physical from my last check LOL. I wonder if the next driver has wrecked my old tractor yet...
