Personally I think that you drivers are the hub of our world and should be commended! :yes2557: But being a truckers daughter, I guess I would feel that way. Theres no denying that this country needs you hard working loyal and dependable people who keep those steel beasts in control so we can all get our new TV's Stereos and microwaves by the next Morning. :biggrin_255: It takes alot of courage to do what you do.... Pushing those huge steel machines from one end of the country, to the other. Holy God, thats a miracle in itself SO why the H_LL are you all having to suffer so badly just trying to do your jobs? Thats BS or greed to Me.!!
If there were no trucks , and no drivers to drive them, o haul freight back and forth, we all would be in deep Sh-T!!
Thank You Everyone, I really appreciate you!!!!! Bradsmom60 :biggrin_25514:

Lots of crappy drivers,VERY few good ones. About 8 out of 10 "drivers" should be fliping burgers at Mcdonalds. There's a very HIGH demand for GOOD drivers, it's just trying to find them.

Yes, there is a high demand for good drivers.
But the industry doesn't want to pay these good drivers what they're worth.

The reason there's so many crappy drivers is that there's so many crappy driving jobs.

I don't doubt for a minute that there are lots of crappy companies and crappy jobs. However, every driver thinks he/she's the cat's meow and most are completely worthless as a truck driver. Not that they can't drive a truck, any knob can do that (almost), it's their attitude. Here's a statistic, my aunt and uncle are running my grandfathers trucking business that he started in 1929, they are seriously considering selling out because of drivers, I have 5 trucks and am seriously considering downsizing to just the equipment I can run myself to get away from dealing with drivers. My brother also runs 5 trucks as well as a couple track hoes and cats and he's considering getting out because of drivers. My neighbour has 3 trucks and is thinking of liquidating because of drivers. A buddy about 40 miles away has 5 trucks and wants out because of drivers and another buddy has 8 rigs and wants me to buy him out because he's tired of babysitting mamby pamby drivers. I suspect that many of the big fleet outfits that are considered crappy paying have just been at this long enough that they've come to the realization that there's no use paying well 'cause odds are, the new driver, that thinks he's "super trucker" will likely turn out to be useless and not even worth the crappy rate. There ARE good drivers out there, they are just REALLY hard to find.

How would you define a GOOD driver though? Theres a difference between having 'can do' attitude and one who will break the law to get the delivery on time. Its a fine line sometimes. I for one would never risk my licence by going over my driving hours. For every poor driver there's a poor dispatcher putting their feet up while a driver is busting his balls to make it.

I guess it's one of those things where "if you have to ask, you wouldn't understand". I also may be to presumptuous, maybe at $30 per hour I'M considered a crappy payer :biggrin_25521:

It will be hard to find the best jobs with no experience at first.

But once you're in a year or two, and keep your nose clean - it will get better.

Just don't expect any of those big income numbers at first, many new drivers nearly starve.

all I know is that being a owner-operator for so many years, i had a few good years with high paying freight, but now loads are cheap, they treat you like crap, and give you the run around about paying you, so just be careful who you deal with. brokers suck,,,companies only look out for themselves.
