Don't feel to bad. One of my drivers with 45 years of driving experiance, never had any accidents and the first time in his life slid the trailer into a ditch, he is loaded.

The damage was minimal one tire and air bag on trailer. I'm just waiting for the bill...*(^%&%$&%(^(^%75 OUCH!

Life goes on. As long as you are safe.

well glad to hear you are ok and you didn't roll it...good to hear your boss says you still have a job........for now at least....bosses tend NOT to tell you that you are fired while the truck is a long distance from the terminal....they usually wait till you get back to tell you good-bye.....

be forewarned...anytime a wrecker is called out, it is considered an accident (many times, a preventable one at that).....make sure you talk to your boss about this....

i wish you the best, but at least consider what might happen just up ahead as well....

    Rerun,

Do you really think he will get dinged in bad weather, with no property damage?

I'm just asking, you seem to have been around a while. I know with big fleets the rule was always if a wrecker got called, but wondered if bad weather was an exception.

If there's a wrecker then yeah he probably will get hit with it...even if the cops don't ticket you it'll show I do believe

And as far as the bad weather goes, he was going to fast for the conditions is what all the reports will say...even though he was under the posted limit

hard to say actually...bad weather....why did he choose to drive...??

they will question him a wee bit more....

there aren't too many exceptions when a wrecker is called out....maybe he "will be lucky" on this....BUT by his BIO, he IS a student....???

we shall see....and it does happen.......students getting canned even for bad weather, because he could have stayed someplace for an extra hour or two.....

be prepared....is all i can say to him

While I cant speak for Rerun but if you hit the ditch because of the weather and roads then its usually the drivers fault, period. Guess it just depends on what type of mood the boss is in

I was just wondering, I know when I was team driving years ago my co-driver got stuck on a large patch of ice in the far end of a recievers parking lot and had to be towed off this large chunk of ice and he got dinged.

It was dark and he pulled away from the building in a bobtail after dropping the trailer, we were waiting for a repower and the reciever was a busy noisy place and he wanted grab a few winks before our relay arrived.
