I called the cop and he showed up for like 2 minutes asked if I was okay and if I had a wrecker coming and left without ticketing me. As of now the safety coordinator is saying it will be unpreventable based on road conditions. Obviously I was going too fast despite going 30mph under the limit in retrospect I should have been going slower

I'm sure you'll be fine...Small family owned companies don't tend to be as nasty about stuff like this as the big bottom feeders do.
You were obviously going to fast for the conditions that you were running in and hopefully you learned something from it.

but it still cost money for the wrecker....you are a student...???

you "might" be lucky in regards to no DAC, but until you get back to the terminal, you will never really know your fate...and i DO wish you well, but, i fear the worst for you....

i do not see how this can be a non-preventable...the speed alone (for road conditions) is enough to nail you on this.....please let us know when you get back to your terminal how you finally make out...they want that truck back, this is on thier minds now.......all else can wait till later....

These are the advantages of working for the smaller mom and pop companies. They actually care about their drivers. You really lucked out not getting ticketed. Also if safety dept. deems it non-preventable you will really be lucky. I would say most accidents due to bad weather are preventable. Props to you for not panicking and keeping her up right. Good Job! I am sure your boss will commend you on that one. Now don't do it again! Take your time man, slow way down when your in that crap. Either that or don't take a chance at all and pull it over. I know in some situations you have to keep chuggin. Just be safe man!

I don't know if im considered a student or not but I've been working since march and already have 95k miles to my credit. And I am not otr either. I do have a sleeper truck but only use is twice a month at the most. This happened 25 miles from where I park my truck everynight and only 125 miles from the office terminal. So its not like I am a thousand miles from my terminal and my boss still told me to keep heading where I was going in the opposite direction of the terminal

It seems that you've possibly been around the big bottom feeders for so long that you've forgotten that there are still decent people that will give a guy a chance out here.

It almost seems like you're hoping for the worst for him...

Or maybe...They'll just talk to him about taking it a little easier in slick conditions and let him learn from his mistake and get on with the job.

If I were you as soon as you can get the tractor into a dry place you should go over it with a fine tooth comb. Crawl under the tractor and make sure there's no lines bent or about to come apart. Do an inspection like it was an aircraft, check everything and do it soon.
